Parish of Kilmovee Church of the St. Celsus’ Church, Immaculate Kilkelly Conception, Kilmovee St. Patrick’s Church, St. Joseph’s Church Glann Urlaur MISSION STATEMENT he Parish of Kilmovee is a Christian Community, committed to making everyone welcome through meeting in liturgy, prayer and friendship as we bear witness to the love and compassion of Jesus T Christ. Fáilte roimh gach éinne. Presentation of The Lord – 2nd February 2014 “EVEN JESUS COULD NOT HAVE REPLACED ……..” ne of the most bizarre statements I noticed this week, was a comment by some prominent official in 2FM. He was justifying the decline in listenership to the slot taken over by Ryan Tubridy following the death of Gerry Ryan (R.I.P.). In his assessment, Mr Tubridy had an O impossible brief and he went on to say that nobody could take over from Gerry Ryan - “Not even Jesus”. I’m inclined towards thinking that Jesus would give any DJ a run for his money!! Sometimes we lose the run of ourselves and forget we were just people passing through - with a limited time-frame and a canvas, among many, onto which we splash the colours of our lives. We are nonetheless precious in God’s eyes and he would be very slow to make comparisons between us. His wish is surely that we live to the fullest of our ability, do our best by and for people and leave the world a better place because we’ve been in it. We strive to do our best, using the talents given - there seems to be a lot of competition about these days. People are being pushed so far to achieve beyond what may well be necessary. You see this in sports, business and entertainment. At the end of the day, we’ve one journey to make - our own journey and as long as we try to make that journey a peaceful one, respectful of others and focused on honesty, we don’t need to be compared with anyone who went before. Tubridy doesn’t need to be compared with Ryan and certainly Jesus never looks for a ranking in popularity stakes …… it’s about doing the best you can, the best I can …. Rtin in ministry in the parish. We remembering the hospitality that welcome anybody from any of our Brigid was famed for.
