iPad Reminders

Cleaning - Handle with care to maintain their appearance. To clean iPads, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft lint-free cloth. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPads. iPads have a coating on the screen; simply wipe the iPads screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen.

Downloading Apps – The iPads come with 117 apps installed. Consult the attached list to see which FREE apps are already included. If you wish to research new FREE apps, you can come to Mr. Walsh’s room where there will be an iPad that can be used to evaluate apps. It cannot be checked out or otherwise removed from that room. *This change in obtaining apps was necessary due to problems that were occurred last year with device memory filling up.

Updating Apps/System – All updates will be completed regularly when the devices are checked in.

Charging iPads – iPads only charge when connected to an outlet. You should get several days use out of a signal charge, but it will not hurt to charge them each night. Use the included chargers, and power-strip to charge the devices. Make sure each device shows that it is connected to power. Do not assume that by just plugging it in that it is charging. Be very careful with the charging port. Several devices have bent adapters and or charging ports. Students should NOT plug or unplug devices.

General Reminders – • Do NOT load a personal or school e-mail account on the devices. • Do NOT load iTunes gift , personal credit cards, or personal iTunes accounts. • Do NOT plug the iPad into a computer. • Do NOT change the background on the device. • When using an App for the first time it may ask to “Allow Push Notifications.” ALWAYS select “NO.” • At this time no devices have active e-mail, Facetime, and iMessage accounts. • Post to Edmodo about how you used the devices.
