Concorso di idee UMBRIAGALLERY Bando #1 UMBRIA GALLERY concorso di idee ART1 - Contents & Purpose The competition of ideas and in order to design a rural center for exhibitions of works of art and the reception of artists and visitors. The spaces must be connected to each other,both functionally and esthetically, in such a way that the system represents a unique exhibition-reception-creative high formal research and compositional. The design must meet the requirements of Bio-building, Bio-climate, use of poor materials and/or recycling and must strive to find sustainable models that is both economical and energetically low.cost and high energy class, and an inclusive solution based on the principles of universal design. The proposals must be sensitive to the use of local materials,semi artisan,may include the use of innovative pre-fabrication. The use of structural wood,along with technologies typical of the area.and experimental construction methods ,non patented and unusual solutions can be adaptive. Open the research today for any type of building models of living systems,aggregation,architectural forms and construction techniques. ART2 - Subject Promoter The promoter is private, the promoter is the owner of the area,and with the support of the council of Avigliano Umbro, propose and organizes this competition, coordinated by the technical management of the "The Young Architects Of Terni", along with technical partners and No-Profit associations. ART3 - Guide line Context The work subject of the competition is inserted in a common building area in Avigliano Umbro (province of TERNI) on land that confines between the agricultural land,characterizing the area attached to the town center. Functions It requires the design: OPEN AIR ART GALLERY Structure of any material and technology, with the possibility of extending the solution with aggregates and modularity, dis-assembling and conversion. The solution should provide for easy maintenance Concorso di idee UMBRIAGALLERY and management solutions to such as to host exhibitions of all types of works of art, ensuring maximum protection & safety. Such space can be located freely within the property. BED&BREAKFAST Reception space connected to the existing volumes in order to create 3 rooms with bathrooms, size 14 sqm+4.5 sqm for this space requires the use of existing volume, also for extending, as shown in the attached chart "General Overview" MULTIPURPOSE ROOM An area aproximately 150 sqm that can accomodate meetings, lectures, exhibitions, festivals, workshops and temporary space for artists. The space should incorporate allowing to be subdivided with moveable and temporary,an area used as a kitchen, with space available for storage,pathways, space and useful accessories for the preparation and the serving of foods according to health & safety laws. This space can be located freely within the batch of property. Materials Any type of materials is permitted, although it is preferable the use of natural materials, low-cost, local even unusual. Technologies Each type of construction technique can be proposed. It would be preferred methods of bio-building, both traditional and innovative. Art 4- Objectives The objectives that the competition aims at are as follows: Start a discussion on the classical techniques of construction,now outdated and inadequate for environmental sustainability(not local materials) is to contain the costs of construction and management,including the capacity of the spaces designed in the project. Capture design proposals/concepts which may make a new image of 'rural architecture,which while respecting the original techniques, reflects our times and consider new techniques and improvements. Imagine a flexible,easy to run,ready receptiveness to the multiple functions related to the world of art. Promote issues of sustainability and feasibility,through material and technical times,the energy savings,sustainability and the use of recyclable materials. Stimulate the development of the project proposals which,from reading the physical and functional characteristics of people,promotes the positive impact that the environment could have on the quality production of life in terms of levels of activity and participation (UN Human Rights of People with Disabilities). Art 5- Documentation Available to participants Participants of the contest are available the following documents: Concorso di idee UMBRIAGALLERY Planimetric area in size .dwg Urban planning with extracts of PRG & NTA General planning in .dwg Aerial view photographic documentation On-demand model of participation Facsimile naming head of group Facsimile file of group Such material will be available on the competition website www.Terraterra.umbria.it and on the following website www.comune.aviglianoumbro.tr.it Art 6-Representation of the proposals. The ideas will be represented by the following documents on which they must be given,on exclusion,any written or graphic representation foreign to the project that could allow the identification to the competitor/s. N.2 A1 size sheets uni oriented vertically. The sheets must be accompanied by a title consisting of max 3 words(the name of project is chosen by the competitors )On top right corner,1cm in height,font arial italics.The sheets have to express with free mode any technique & the design idea. Report explaining the design choices ,expl ain the design choices-max 8 pages A4 format vertical layout,freely choose to insert images & drawings.The title of the report should be equal to that chosen for the board and must be affixed on each page on top right corner. Inside the report there needs to be present a copy of 2 pages on A1 sheets of the project. There should also be provided the economic date relating to the construction costs in addition to any study of details and finishes and the quality assessments about energy, and environmental sustainability of the proposals. A separate section called "Development of the rural marketing area" is to represent, with any patterns and characters, the idea of innovative concept for the receptivity spread in a rural area, a regional marketing also different from the existent, the pro-active innovation in a sign of low cost and sustainability planning. Art 7 - Questions Questions and requests for explanations, advanced by those who wish to participate in the competition should be sent only by E-mail to the secretary organization "concorsi [email protected]" by 9nd April 2012. Subsequently the organizers will publish on the contest website a document containing the answers to the main questions received. Remember questions will not be accepted other than those listed in the competition. On our Facebook page there is a FAQ which will be updated daily. Concorso di idee UMBRIAGALLERY ART8 - Modality and participation form The participation in the competition is totally free and anonymous.The official language is Italian or/and the english .The participation in the competition is open to all, and can take forms of groups of a min of 2 people, larger groups can participate as long as one of the members is a qualified architect. Different nationalities can participate. All members of the group must nominate a group leader, who will be responsible for all legal consequences for auctioneer organizers. Employees may participate in the quality of architects not registered with there profession, college & university students, even different nationalities other than Italian.To favor a multidisciplinary approach to the design are also well accepted with professional staff. People without a professional title can also enter. For all purposes of this competition a group of 2 competitors can not be part of another group. Every participant can only make one proposal Groups with only 2 competitors will have the same rights as a numerous group. By entering the competition one will be current with their presentation. ART9 - Modalities and Final Date for Submission of Graph sheets The documents and the project proposals must be received at the risk of exclusion, in sealed packages, anonymously, on which has to be addressed to "CONCORSO DI IDEE – UMBRIAGALLERY", addressed to “Comune di Avigliano Umbro - ufficio protocollo - Via F.lli Rosselli N.14 - C.A.P. 05020 - Avigliano Umbro” enter by date 14th May 2012. It is stated that the mailing is at own risk and care of the competitors,whose duty is to find a suitable system,and also act to ensure anonymity, in accordance with local regulations . The packages can be also directly hand sent. In the eventual use of postal or courier service ,the postal shipment stamp will make it faithful. Also on the envelope it must be as sender and receiver ,to maintain the anonymity,the protocol address of the office as indicated above. On the envelope it must not be specified any sign or symbol,or statement that will jeopardize the anonymity of the participant. Inside the envelope must be included: A sealed opaque envelope formed A1.On front of the envelope it should be marked only "DOCUMENTS" and an alphanumeric code on the other side, and must not specified signs,symbols that can affect the anonymity of competitor/s ,otherwise there is a risk of exclusion. Contents of the following documentation: 1. Copy of application for registration form for contest. 2. Nomination of group leader signed by all the participants in the group. 3. Application form containing the title of project as named in ART5.Personal dates with the addresses and particulars of registration of ones profession, in what faculty professionals relate to Declaration and signed with a readable signature from all non graduates. 4. A photocopy of a valid identity document for each participant. The PROJECT PROPOSAL on N.2 A1 sheets on which should not be specified,otherwise risk of exclusion if there are any signs,symbols or statements that can judge the anonymity of the participant/s.Mounted on rigid board,lightweight,no thicker than 1cm.
