  • Plenty to Ponder Ahead of Deadline Cheveldayoff Has Options Before Trade Window Closes on Monday
Winnipeg Free Press https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/jets/jets-only-worry-about-the-next-game-not- trade-rumours-474509663.html Plenty to ponder ahead of deadline Cheveldayoff has options before trade window closes on Monday By: Mike McIntyre A blockbuster move? A depth piece or two? Nothing at all? Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff says all options are on the table heading into Monday’s NHL trade deadline — and plenty of intrigue surrounds what the local squad might do. The Jets resemble a Stanley Cup contender and have the prime opportunity they’ve been building toward for years. "I couldn’t tell you with a crystal ball what we’re going to be talking about Monday with respect to additions, or not, with our group," Cheveldayoff said Tuesday in a wide-ranging conversation with the Free Press. Cheveldayoff made it clear that while he’s willing to move draft picks and prospects to help his team win now, there are a few untouchables. While he wouldn’t identify them by name, one has to think young players such as Kyle Connor, Jack Roslovic and 2017 first-round pick Kristian Vesalainen might be among them. "We have assets within this organization — whether they’re picks or prospects — and there’s going to be a threshold that will be determined as to whether we will use them or not," Cheveldayoff said. "There’s some assets within our organization that I will not use. If there’s the right fit, and the right deal, then certainly I’d be willing to do that.

2020-21 Chicago Wolves Game Notes CHICAGO AT ROCKFORD APRIL 7, 2021 6 P.M. AHLTV.COM GOING FOR GREATNESS 2020-21 As the Chicago Wolves and the Rockford IceHogs wrap up their four-game set over a 12-day stretch TALE OF THE TAPE (the Wolves also found time to face the Grand Rapids Griffins once), it’s intriguing to chart how the current Wolves compare with some of the great teams of the franchise’s past. REGULAR-SEASON SERIES 0-6-0-0 Rockford | 6-0-0-0 Chicago With their 4-2 win over the IceHogs Saturday night in Hoffman Estates, the Wolves improved their LAST MEETING April 3, 2021 record to 14-2-0-1. The only Wolves team that can match that is the 2007-08 crew that led the American Hockey League from start to finish on the way to hoisting the Calder Cup. John Anderson’s 2007-08 squad actually rolled out to a 13-0-1-0 start — their only defeat a 1-0 overtime loss to a Milwaukee Admirals team backstopped by Pekka Rinne. They then dropped two out of three 6-12-1-0 14-2-0-1 games, which moved them to the 14-2-1-0 record that equals the current team. SERIES LEADERS While the 2007-08 and the 2021 teams boast the same record, it’s not easy to compare the two — and not just because of this year’s shorter schedule with fewer opponents and less travel. ROCKFORD CHICAGO Skater G A Pts Skater G A Pts The 2007-08 squad featured Most Valuable Player Jason Krog enjoying a dominant season from start Wilkie 2 4 6 Jeannot 4 4 8 to finish, but he didn’t have two of his best teammates at his side for most of the first two months.

You know, I think we had a good feeling going into the third, like you said, 2-1, we kind of had the momentum of the game. Our penalty kill was huge tonight. AHLTV.COM OPENING COURSE: YOUTH IS SERVED 2020-21 In the days leading up to the Chicago Wolves’ opener Friday night against the Grand Rapids Griffins, TALE OF THE TAPE head coach Ryan Warsofsky promised that his youngest players would be thrown right into the fire.
