HSC dat a in SPaRO The 2017 HSC data is now available in SPaRO. This information is auto-populated for schools to assist them as they prepare and publish the 2017 Annual Report. In response to the concerns of schools across the state and feedback received, the software has been enhanced to provide in-depth information to schools and their community in their Annual reports. In 2017, schools are presented with four columns of information: School 2017, SSSG Average, State Average 2017 and School Average 2013-2017. This additional information regarding SSSG and State Averages provides schools with the opportunity to provide a comparison to like schools and the state when describing the school?s performance. Also new in 2017, schools are now able to choose to include the HSC data as graphs, tables or both graphs and tables by selecting the desired display format required in SPaRO. Previously schools were able to present information as a graph only. This customisation by schools provides the opportunity to present information in a manner meaningful to their local community. Should schools have any queries regarding their 2017 annual report, please encourage them to contact our team at [email protected] or telephone 9244 5713.

Business Partnership Updates I would like to acknowledge the work of our SPC Partnerships Manager, Paul Tracey. As most of you would be aware Paul is a life Member of the SPC and now works with us in developing business, education and sponsorship relationships with a wide range of organisations. He has hit the ground running as the following update attests. We thank Academy Photography for their time spent with us as our official Business Partner. Late last year we conducted a tender for our new partner and we are delighted to welcome the successful tenderer MSP. They have supported our organisation for a long time as sponsors, but now have the additional status of being our Business Partner. We look forward to a long and productive relationship. We thank Daylight Schoolwear and Teachers Mutual Bank for continuing their long term relationship with us as Business Partners.Towards the end of last year we also welcomed Whispr and SENTRAL as our newest BPs and we are proud to have the SPC associated with these organisations. Paul?s role will include improved coordination with BPs and sponsors for Regional meetings, taking the pressure off Regional organisers, and ensuring we fulfil our obligations. This includes access to various State and Regional meetings, Annual Conference and of course to have their logos on our official documentation. From the perspective of you as a member, you are not obliged to engage a BP, but we do as that you give them a ?hearing? at the very least.

18 SPC Principal Fut ures Websit e The website is now live! Huge thanks go to Brian Ralph and Cassy Norris for their leadership of this project. This has been a terrific initiative and one which extends even further the support we have now established for our soon-to-retire Principals, retired Principals and Life Members. It now goes much further and also provides all Principals with a way of not only accessing heaps of tips, stories and resources, but also of being able to access people for possible employment options you may have. That might be short term assistance on a particular project, longer term coaching and mentoring, or various other forms of consultancy support. All SPC members are entitled to register to access the sit e!

19 The 2018-19 SPC Strat egic Plan This has been back and forth several times in various forums and we are now pleased that our latest Strategic Plan has been endorsed by State Assembly. Keep in mind this is a Strategic Plan and is not expected to cover every area of our operational activity. It is accessible from the SPC website.

NSW SPC Elect ions Time flies! It is hard to believe that it has come around again already, but 2018 is an election year for the SPC. We have worked out a proposed election schedule based on the changes that have already passed through State Assembly in terms of the voting mechanism and announcements. The following timeline has now been endorsed by State Assembly. The timeline is: 1. Call for nominations will occur four weeks before the end of Term 1 2. Nominations close last day of Term 1 3. Voting ? Term 2 Weeks 1-2 4. Notification to candidates of outcome by the end of Term 2 Week 3 5. Formal announcements - Term 2 State Assembly and media release.

School Leadership Strategy A strong focus this year will be upon the deliverables of the School Leadership Strategy agreed to in 2017. The Strategy includes a steering committee which is chaired by the Secretary and includes SPC and PPA representation ? an important feature. The role of the steering committee includes: - reviewing and discussing the implementation progress of the actions under the School Leadership Strategy - reviewing the findings from any evaluations of the School Leadership Strategy and advising the Secretary on options for addressing those findings - sharing feedback from key stakeholders with a view to alerting the Secretary to good news stories and any implementation issues - advising the Secretary on priorities and implementation options for further actions in support of school leaders to address the full findings of the Principal Workload and Time Use Study - reporting back to their representative bodies on the processes for communication and implementation of the School Leadership Strategy to ensure consistent and accurate information flow.
