Etowah District Cub Scout Packs – Map Guidelines and Suggestions for Successful Go See Its Suggestions to Make Your Go See It a Success Schedule the first (or first several) Go See It(s) yourself. These visits come early in the Scouting year and they may need to occur before you have your parent helpers engaged. Depending on the size of your den: (a) ask different parents to be in charge of each visit, or (b) ask one parent to be in charge of all Go See Its for the year. If parents have expertise or an “inside track” at any visit locations, use that resource to your advantage. Emphasize to parents the importance of scheduling in advance and reconfirming the visit details again before the visit. Schedule the visit 2-3 weeks in advance. Get a contact name and number so you can reconfirm the visit 3-4 days prior to its scheduled date. Explain the purpose of your visit and that you’ll be bringing first graders and their adult partners. Ask for a 20- to 30-minute tour, followed by a time during which the Scouts may ask questions. You don’t need to think big to have a big impact; sometimes a smaller, local organization can deliver a more customized visit for your Scouts. Once the visit is initially scheduled, communicate visit details, location, directions and time to adult partners and their Tigers. Have a game, skit or song and an alternate meeting plan ready, in case the visit is unexpectedly delayed or cancelled. At the next meeting following the visit, make a “Thank You!” card for all the boys to sign to thank the people you visit in writing. Keep notes of what locations worked well for your Pack, and share them with next year’s Tiger Leader! • 2009 Annual Report
Fiscal Year 2009 Annual Financial Report And Shareholder Letter January 2010 To the Shareholders and Cast Members of The Walt Disney Company: As I was drafting this letter, word came about the passing of a true Disney legend, Roy E. Disney. Roy devoted the better part of his life to our Company, and during his 56 year tenure, he was involved on many levels with many businesses, most notably animation. No one was a bigger champion of this art form than Roy, and it was at his urging that we returned to a full commitment to animation in the mid-1980s. Roy also introduced us to Pixar in the 1990s, a relationship that has proven vital to our success. Roy understood the essence of Disney, and his passion for the Company, his appreciation of its past and his keen interest in its future will be sorely missed. Last year was both an interesting and challenging one for your Company. On the positive side, we released two extraordinary animated films, Up and The Princess and the Frog that exemplify the very best of what we do. We received the go-ahead from China’s government to build a new theme park in Shanghai. We acquired Marvel Entertainment, whose portfolio of great stories and characters and talented creative staff complement and strengthen our own. And we reached an agreement to distribute live-action films made by Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks SKG. At the same time, we faced a severe global economic downturn and an acceleration of secular challenges that affect several of our key businesses.
