We are back to gaining access to the new facilities from 6:30pm onwards in the evenings and early in the mornings. The evening timeslots mean greater flexibility for junior game sessions at reasonable hours. Junior participation has dramatically increased however continued effort needs to be maintained in the area of junior development. The obvious growth still emanating from the increasing popularity of the sport in schools is welcoming. VWPI Annual Report 2007-2008

MARKETING REPORT project and to look at marketing, design and print, to support school, Flippa Ball clinics and Over the past year Marketing has been potential new players of our sport. involved in 3 projects aside from general board business and they were in the following areas: Perry Gaylard Marketing – VWPI 1/ Judicial Report Books Setting up of artwork and the printing of the VWPI Judicial Report books. This job has been completed and the new Report books have been in use on the pool deck for the duration of the winter competition.

2/ Flippa Ball Logo, Postcard and Poster Graphics: Setting up of artwork and the printing of support material for the launch of the Flippa Ball Clinic Program. A logo for the Flippa Ball program was designed and approved for use in the marketing of the Flippa Ball Clinics. This was used on the promotional postcard that was printed for letter box drop purposes for the advertising of the first Flippa Ball Clinic. The other piece of marketing material that was produced was a generic poster to support the marketing of the Flippa Ball Clinics. This poster, A2 size, is generic in the way of the date set up and was designed for use at pools and local schools. The artwork for the poster could also be used for future newspaper advertising. My thoughts on the Marketing of the next Flippa Ball Clinic would include local newspaper advertising through the Leader or Journal newspapers. This would be taken out 2 weeks prior the start of the clinic and in conjunction with the letter box drop of postcards in the area targeted for the clinic.

3/ Junior Competition T-Shirt Graphics: One of my aims for marketing water polo at the junior level this year was to have our juniors wearing their own water polo competition t-shirt. My design has been approved but unfortunately we ran out of time to get it out for the 2007/08 competition. With a lot of the ground work already completed, I am hoping to get this project finished for the start of the new 2008/09 competition and to see our juniors advertising water polo to the masses as they wear their t-shirts during the summer months.

Looking forward to the coming year I would like to finish off the Junior Competition T-Shirt

FINANCE DIRECTOR’S REPORT

The Board is pleased to present the Financial Reports for 2007/2008. We can confirm that VWPI continues on track with its financial goals.

The Board thanks Sam Oliphant and Carmen Stocks for their good work in preparing these accounts. These accounts were approved, without issue, by our auditors Wattle Accounting.

We have recognised a total net income of approximately $34,000 for the financial year. This money will be applied to our existing significant financial commitments for 2008/2009.

We have considered at length the financial objectives of VWPI. We have resolved to seek to maintain our current substantial net cash holdings as a conservative margin to safeguard the future of Victorian Water Polo Inc.

Note to the special purpose financial report This special purpose financial report was prepared for distribution to the members to fulfil the committee's financial reporting requirements under the constitution and the Associations Incorporation Act (state). The accounting policies used in the preparation of this report, as described below, are consistent with the financial reporting requirements of Victorian Water Polo’s constitution and with previous years and are, in the opinion of the committee, appropriate to meet the needs of members: (a) The financial report was prepared on a modified accrual basis of accounting, including the historical cost convention and the going concern assumption. (b) The requirements of accounting standards and other professional reporting requirements in Australia do not have mandatory applicability to Victorian Water Polo Inc because it is not a 'reporting entity'. The committee has, however, prepared the financial report in accordance with all Australian accounting standards with the following exceptions:

Independent Report by Approved Auditor

To the Board and Members of

Victorian Water Polo Inc

Report on the Financial report

We have audited the special purpose financial report comprising the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Statement of Victorian Water Polo Inc for the year ended 30 June 2008.

The Board is responsible for the preparation and fair presentation of the financial reports in accordance with Australian accounting standards, and has determined that the accounting policies used are consistent with the financial reporting requirements of Victorian Water Polo Inc and are appropriate to meet the needs of the members. This responsibility includes designing, implementing and maintaining internal control relevant to the preparation and fair presentation of the financial report that is free from material misstatement whether due to fraud or error; selecting and applying appropriate accounting policies; and making accounting estimates that are reasonable in the circumstances.

Auditor’s responsibility

Our responsibility is to express an opinion on the financial report based on our audit. We conducted our audit in accordance with Australian auditing standards. These auditing standards require that we comply with relevant ethical requirements relating to audit engagements and plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance that the financial report is free from material misstatement.

An audit involves performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial report. The procedures selected depend on the auditor’s judgement, including the assessment of the risks of material misstatement of the financial report, whether due to fraud or error. In making those risk assessments, the auditor considers internal control relevant to the entity’s preparation and fair presentation of the financial report in order to design audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the entity’s internal control. An audit also expresses the appropriateness of the accounting policies used and the reasonableness of accounting estimates made by the Board, as well as evaluating the overall presentation of the financial report.

We believe the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our audit opinion.

Independence

In conducting our audit, we have complied with the independence requirements of the Australian professional bodies.

VWPI Annual Report 2007-2008

Auditor’s Opinion

In our opinion, the financial report presents fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of Victorian Water Polo Inc as of 30th June 2008 and of its financial performance for the year then ended in accordance with Australian accounting standards (including the Australian accounting Interpretations).
