NO. 5,____________________________________________________________ APRIL/MAY 1990 Simmons Unanimous Player-Of-The-Year The dream of every young athlete is to one day rise to the top of his sport, to be noticed and recognized for a job well done. Lionel Simmons, who had this very same dream while growing up on the playgrounds of South Philadelphia, has seen the dream come true. Two weeks after the La Salle season ended with a heartbreaking loss to Clemson in the second round of the NCAA tourna­ ment, Simmons continued to reap the awards brought about by a spectacular senior season on the hardwood.
