W 1992 r. Baker wprowadzony został do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, w 2010 r. Modern Drummer Hall of Fame, a w 2011 Classic Drummer Hall of Fame. W 2005 r. otrzymał prestiżową Grammy Life Time Achievemet Award za całokształt twórczości, w 2008 r. – Zildjian Top Drummer Award. Ginger Baker Jazz Confussion (UK/USA) zagra podczas Suwałki Blues Festival 2014 w składzie: Ginger Baker – perkusja, Pee Wee Ellis – saksofon (współpracował z Jamesem Brownem, Vanem Morrisonem), Alec Dankworth – kontrabas (współpracował z Dave’em Brubeckiem, Clarkiem Terrym), Abass Dodoo – instrument perkusyjne. Vanilla Fudge był znany pod nazwą The Pigeons, utworzony w New Jersey w 1965 roku. Zespół tworzyli: organista Mark Stein, basista Tim Bogert i perkusista Joey Brennan oraz gitarzysta, wokalista i Vince Martell (weteran armii amerykańskiej). Artyści zaczęli intensywnie koncertować po całym wschodnim i zachodnim wybrzeżu Stanów. Swoją popularność zyskali grając jako support przed koncertami popularnych, komcercyjnych grup. Na początku 1966 nagrali zestaw ośmiu płyt demo, które ukazały się kilka lat później jako “While the World Was Eating Vanilla Fudge”. Zespół graj ący muzyk ę psychodeliczn ą, zało żony na wschodnim wybrze żu USA w 1965 (pod nazw ą The Electric Pigeons, potem The Pigeons) przez organist ę klasycznego Marka Steina, basist ę Tima Bogerta oraz perkusist ę Joeya Brennana. Do grupy doł ączył gitarzysta Vince Martell, natomiast Brennana zast ąpił Carmine Appice. Grupa wykonywała głównie klasyczne przeboje rockowe we własnych wersjach, odznaczaj ących si ę oryginaln ą form ą i bogatym brzmieniem. Zasłyn ęli z z perfekcyjnych coverów krótkich przebojów popowych (np. The Beatles) i klasycznych kompozycji (Fur Elise & Moonlight Sonata Beethovena) w eksperymentalnych, pełnych awangardowych brzmie ń hipisowsko- psychodelicznych aran żacjach. Krytycy muzyczni oceniaj ą wczesn ą działalno ść Vanilla Fudge jako zjawisko przełomowe dla muzyki rockowej, prekursorskie wzgl ędem pó źniejszego rocka progresywnego (m.in. Yes, King Crimson) oraz preludium epoki hard rocka i heavy metalu (m.in. Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin, Budgie). Pierwsza płyta z 1967 r. „Vanilla Fudge”, charakteryzuj ąca si ę zawił ą kompozycj ą, ostrymi riffami, tłem wzbogaconym melorecytacjami, była prawdziwym przełomem w ówczesnej muzyce. Oryginalna aran żacja kompozycji, charakterystyczne spowolnienia tempa, wzajemne uzupełnianie si ę przez artystów i metamorfoza dwuminutowych utworów w dziewi ęciominutowe hymny rockowe, zapewniły grupie ogromny sukces. Najwi ększe przeboje grupy to: You Keep Me Hangin’ on, Season of the Witch czy Where is My Mind. Vanilla Fudge zagra w składzie: Mark Stein – wokal, instrumenty klawiszowe Vince Martell – gitara Carmine Appice – perkusja Pete Bremy – bass, wokal 3 THE CHRIS DUARTE GROUP (USA) 12.07.2014, godz. 21.00, scena przy ratuszu miejskim, wstęp wolny Chris Duarte to znakomity ameryka ński gitarzysta, wokalista i autor tekstów. Słynie z teksa ńskiego blues-rocka z elementami jazzu i rock and rolla. Duarte urodził si ę 16 lutego 1963 w San Antonio w Teksasie. W wieku 8 lat złapał muzycznego bakcyla. Ogromny wpływ miała na to emisja w telewizji ,,Skrzypka na dachu’’. Chris Duarte pocz ątkowo grał na gitarze brata, ale niedługo potem, w wieku 14 lat, kupił swój pierwszy instrument – gitar ę elektryczn ą. W 1979 roku Duarte przeniósł si ę do Austin w Teksasie i nabył Fendera Stratocastera – gitar ę z roku swojego urodzenia. Chris Duarte ch ętnie współpracuje z innymi muzykami (Julie Burrell, Diana Cantu, Bobby Mack, Tracy Conover, Indigenous, and Omar & the Howlers), a w ostatnich latach wyst ąpił w USA na wielu koncertach z japo ńskim zespołem Bluestone Company. Jego główn ą grup ą pozostaje jednak trio The Chris Duarte Group. Pierwotnie w skład zespołu wchodzili przyjaciele, czyli John Jordan (gitara basowa) oraz Jeff Hodges (perkusja), a obecnie Duarte towarzysz ą Matt Stallard (gitara basowa) i John McKnight (perkusja). Podczas Suwałki Blues Festival 2014 publiczno ść na pewno usłysz utwory z ostatniej płyty Chrisa Duarte. Album ukazał si ę w lutym 2013 roku i nosi tytuł „My Soul Alone”. Duarte towarzyszą Matt Stallard (gitara basowa) i John McKnight (perkusja). EARL THOMAS & THE ROYAL GUARD (USA/UK) 11.07.2014, godz. • Original Members: Carmine Appice, Vince Martell and Mark Stein! ... and with Pete Bremy on Bass
Vanilla Fudge Original Members: Carmine Appice, Vince Martell and Mark Stein! ... and with Pete Bremy on bass Vanilla Fudge was one of the first American groups to infuse psychedelia into a heavy rock sound to create “psychedelic symphonic rock”: Although, at first, the band did not record original material, they were best known for their dramatic heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs which they developed into works of epic proportion. Impressed by their heavy-rocking, trippy and psychedelic version of The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On," they got offered to record the song as a single. This resulted in a deal with the Atlantic subsidiary Atco. They were a white group singing and playing with the soul of the brothers. The band toured extensively behind its covers-heavy, jam-oriented debut album, Vanilla Fudge, to expand their fan base. Vanilla Fudge, the album, was released on June 2, 1967 the day after The Beatles’ released their Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Vanilla Fudge first album rose up the charts to # 4 without the aid of a big hit single. In 1968, Vanilla Fudge headlined performed "You Keep Me Hangin' On" on The Ed Sullivan Show, and released their second album, “The Beat Goes On.” Despite its avant-garde conceptualization and execution, the LP was a hit and climbed into the Top Twenty. It was followed by Renaissance, one of Vanilla Fudge's best albums, which also hit the Top Twenty. The band had three albums in the Top One Hundred, two of which were in the Top Twenty and one in the Top Five Single.

  • Vanilla Fudge: You Keep Me Hangin’ On
JUST FOR THE RECORD by Dennis Barker Vanilla Fudge: You keep me hangin’ on Guilty Pleasures Ah, those Guilty pleasures. You know, the things that people do that make them feel just a little better, even though they know they’re not so good for them. Or maybe its something you don’t want to admit because it’s a tad embarrassing. It might be sleeping until noon on Saturday, then spending the day in your PJ’s, killing a quart of chocolate ice cream in one sitting, or, watching “Dancing with the Stars”. We all have our little secrets. I’ll come clean, for me it’s fudge, and not the kind my grandson makes with my wife at Christmas. For my money, the best fudge comes in Vanilla…... And there ain’t nothing I can do about it…….. Vanilla Fudge; the rock and roll world interpreted into psy- chedelica. You dig, or you don’t. It’s not often that what is in essence a cover band catches anybody’s at- tention, but, there are few cover bands that offer the kind of unique interpretation Vanilla Fudge gave to a pantheon of 1960’s rock and roll music. The Beatles, Donovan, Sonny & Cher, Smokey Robinson, The Im- pressions, The Zombies, and, The Supremes, band members Carmine Appice, Tim Bogert, Vince Martell and Mark Stein covered them all, and more. Little original music is found in their discography. Originally formed by Joey Brennan, Stein, Martell and Bogart, as “The Pigeons”, following the 1966 re- placement of Brennan by Carmine Appice, the band renamed itself “Vanilla Fudge”, and were discov- ered, and subsequently managed by reputed New York mobster Phillip Basile.

  • Hardrock Haven | Vanilla Fudge When Two Worlds Collide DVD Re
Hardrock Haven | Vanilla Fudge When Two Worlds Collide DVD Review http://hardrockhaven.net/online/2009/vanilla-fudge-when-two-worlds-col... Dubbed as an “American psychedelic band,” Vanilla Fudge short career ran from ’67 to ’70. The original band featured keyboardist Mark Stein, Tim Bogert (b) and Carmine Appice (d) and guitarist Vince Martell. Nearly 40 years after the band folded in the early ‘70s the band has returned with new members Teddy Rondinelli on guitar and Bill Pascali on keyboards. With Tim Bogert (b) and Carmine Appice (d) holding down the rhythm section, Vanilla Fudge’s latest DVD release When Two Worlds Collide is a live affair capturing the band performing with a full symphonic orchestra. The “live” performance appears to be staged in a studio or even a warehouse and lacks an audience. The band performs their hit “You keep Me Hangin’ On” as well song s from their catalog of music including “Take Me For A Little While,” “Season Of The Witch” and “She’s Not There.” The band also covers the Rod Stewart classic “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” which was written by Appice. When Two Worlds Collide is certainly a visual and audio time capsule showcasing Vanilla Fudge’s short career. The band proved to be a launching ground for Bogert and Appice’s music careers. Setting aside the historical aspect of the band this DVD will only appeal to diehard fans of the band. And the overall presentation is a bit disappointing without the interaction of a live audience. The overall feel is of a music video shoot, rehearsal or a band practice.

There’s a nice pun in the title; a statement that Wilson doesn’t feel any pressure to live up to his storied past, perhaps? Some of these songs were originally intended for a follow-up to the Beach Boys’ 2012 reunion album “That’s Why God Made the Radio.” Inner band turmoil put paid to that notion, but there’s still a partial Beach Boys presence on the album. You can’t miss those gorgeous trademark harmonies on “What Ever Happened,” which VANILLA FUDGE features Beach Boys Al Jardine and David Marks, SPIRIT OF ‘67 for example. It’s trademark Wilson. too, a song that looks back sadly at the changes time has PURPLE PYRAMID (CD) brought, along with an underlying wariness +++ ++ about the future (“What’s going to happen to me?”). You’ll fi nd a similar melancholy on “The Right Time” (with Jardine and Marks), and “Tell Back in the day, Vanilla Fudge built a formidable reputation out of reinterpret- Me Why” (with Jardine), though the upbeat “Sail ing the music of others. It seemed a fairly simple formula at the time — take a well-known Away” (with Jardine and the Beach Boys’ Blondie rock or soul standard, add some bombast, a dose of psychedelia and repackage it for the Chaplin) has a more optimistic mood.
