Nutcracker VillageTM & Market

Tour groups and bus groups find this delightful annual event an attractive destination. There is no cost to tour the Steubenville Nutcracker VillageTM at any time and visit the Advent Market with entertainment and activities on weekends. Donations are welcome. Plan your visit to include one or more of these holiday activities and shopping in our historic downtown. NUTCRACKER VILLAGE: Over 150 uniquely designed depicting literary figures, famous personalities, and professions are arrayed in Fort Steuben Park under a canopy of holiday lights. These life sized creations are on display 24/7 and bring smiles and laughter as visitors take “selfies” with their favorites. Within the park a model train chugs around the 30 foot tree while Christmas melodies fill the air. A complete schedule of events and performances is available in the Visitor Center. ADVENT MARKET: On weekends, the Village really comes alive as vendors offer handcrafted and artisanal items from their holiday chalets. Modeled on the Christkindl markets of Europe, the Steubenville Advent Market includes Christmas décor, wooden toys, , jewelry, Nutcracker souvenirs and more. Be sure to taste traditional foods from Froehlich’s Kraut Haus and treats from the Steubenville Popcorn Company. Visitors enjoy live entertainment during the Market. Hop on the wagon for the free hayrides and tour the city’s historic down- town. Open Friday & Saturday, 3-8pm and Sunday, 1-6pm.

HOLLY TROLLEY RIDES: Also on weekends, board the Holly Trolley to get a 20- minute tour of the downtown including some of the famous artwork in “The City of Murals.” The trolley runs on Saturdays and Sundays, between 1-5pm and seats 20 people. To reserve the Trolley for a group, there is a $2/person charge.

CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND & GIFT SHOP: The Christmas Wonder- land and Gift Shop in the Fort Steuben Visitor Center is open daily from 10am to 6pm and until 8pm on Friday and Saturday. Young folks can write letters to Santa or watch the model train travel through the miniature village. The Gift Shop stocks books, maps, old fashioned toys and city souvenirs. Drop a donation in the drum of the Singing Nutcracker and he will serenade you!

WOODEN HEART FOLLIES 2 - THE WOODEN BOY: This original musical comedy based on the characters of Steubenville Nutcracker Village and set to the melodies of Tchaikovsky’s beloved “Nutcracker Suite” delights young and old, on the first two weekends in December. Pirates, Pinocchio and the Mad Scientist keep the audience entranced at each performance. Tickets for the production can be purchased at the door or in advance at the Visitor Center or online. General admission, $10; students, $5; under 6, free. Groups of 12 or more may purchase tickets in advance at $8/person.
