2021 Inspired by Hoffman’s tale and Tchaikovsky’s subsequent ballet, The Nutcracker, Casafina raises the curtain to reveal a stunning selection of must-have items for the festive season. the nutcracker op.71a # Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker premiered in St. Petersburg at the Mariinski Theater on December 18, 1892. It tells the story of a young girl, Clara, who receives a special gift from her uncle Drosselmeyer at her family’s annual holiday party. Clara’s gift, a magnificent Nutcracker doll is the best of all the gifts. With the help of his friends, her jealous brother Fritz snatches the Nutcracker from Clara and breaks it. Uncle Drosselmeyer is able to repair the doll, and the party continues happily. After the guests leave, Clara falls into a deep sleep. The clock strikes twelve and Clara awakens to find herself on a battlefield of mice and rats, with a menacing Rat King, toy soldiers, and a life-size Nutcracker doll. The battle ends when, with the help of the Nutcracker doll, the Rat King is killed. Clara then travels on a magical journey to the Kingdom of Snow and the Land of Sweets where dancers from many countries celebrate. She finds herself home again and tells her mother and father of her adventure. It was only a dream – or was it real?

Through sheer determination and a little help from Clara, the the first act brave Nutcracker is able to overcome the Mouse # King and claim victory. Christmas Eve The party begins at the Stahlbaum’s. Drosselmeyer presents Clara with a pristine wooden nutcracker soldier which evokes jealousy from her brother, Fritz. He seizes the nutcracker, a struggle ensues and the nutcracker is left broken. Clara is devastated.

THE WALTZ OF THE SNOWFLAKES The mice retreat and the nutcracker is transformed into a handsome Prince. He leads Clara through the moonlit night to a pine forest.

The snowflakes dance around them, ushering the two through a wondrous kingdom. r 4 the second act # kingdom of sweets After their journey through the Snow Forest, Clara and her prince arrive in the Land of Sweets. A series of dances culminates in a handsome Cavalier joining the Sugar Plum Fairy for a perfect final waltz.
