In 1946, the Encyclopedia Britannica listed Yunnan University as one of the 15 most influential universities in the world. In 1996, it was included in the list of designated universities in China’s Project 211,in 2017, it became one of the first 42 First-Class Universities of China. The initiative is founded on research conducted by Goldman Sachs, the World Bank and others, which contends that such an investment can have a significant impact on GDP growth. Goldman Sachs10,000 Women was launched globally in 2008 and has operated in China since 2009 graduating more than 1,940 women from the program in partnership with four universities: Tsinghua University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Yunnan University and Zhejiang University. Globally, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women has supported more than 10,000 women from across 56 countries as diverse as Afghanistan, Brazil, China, Egypt, India and Rwanda through a network of 100 academic, nonprofit and bank partners. This report is the research result of the Entrepreneurship Research Center on G20 Economies, Tsinghua University.
