The principal Children’s National Health System @ UMC 35,016 32,199 -8.0% cause appears to be the closure of the Providence Children’s National Health System 91,016 89,233 -2.0% Hospital Emergency Department in April 2019. UTILIZATION INDICATORS / PAGE 3 The number of inpatient admissions declined by approximately 1.2% between 2018 and 2019. This is the eighth year in a row that inpatient admissions have fallen. This trend is likely to continue as services shift to the outpatient setting rather than an INPATIENT inpatient one and due to the impact of COVID-19 in 2020.
