Community Potluck/Brewfest Wrap-Up If you weren’t able to attend the Potluck Brewfest on Saturday, February 22, you missed a fun, free event. About 20 folks from our community came together to share some food (potluck) and a beer tasting of- fered by Mike de Jonge from our neighborhood brewery, Marda Loop Brewing Co. Mike is a member of the community and led the tasting of five different beers that his brewery has produced. Attendees went home with a souvenir beer glass in addition to tasting some good brew. The food was great. We had great music and good conversation. Thank you to everyone that was involved in making this event a success!

Are you interested in growing your own food, learning about gardening, and rubbing shoulders with your fellow community members? Do you have family or friends who would like to try their hand at gardening this summer? Book a gardening plot at the Community Association Grounds by contacting the RKHCA Community Garden Coordinators! There are a number of vacant garden plots for rent at the RKHCA for the summer of 2020. Every gardener is required to sign up and dedicate themselves for some of the mandatory volunteer tasks ensure the garden is well maintained for 2020 and future years. Volunteering helps you get to know one another at the same time. Plot rentals are $25/season and renters must have a current RKH- CA membership. Plots will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve Community basis. Plots will also only be officially granted once a gardener has an up to date membership to the community association and has paid the $25 plot rental fee. Many have heard that “April showers bring May flowers”, which was based on a proverb from 1886. This phrase is seen in Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales; “Whan that Aprill, with his shoures soote The droughte of March hath perced to the Roote, and all The veins are bathed in liquor of such power As brings about the engendering of the flower.” I think I’ll stick with the 1886 version.
