The Wolves seem to thrive outside the friendly confines of REGULAR-SEASON SERIES Allstate Arena, collecting a 14-7-1-0 road record this year that includes a six-game road winning streak 3-3-1-0 Milwaukee | 4-2-0-1 Chicago from Dec. 5-28. The penalty kill is also doing well in opposing rinks, improving to an 86.1 percent average from the overall 81.4 percent penalty kill rate. The Wolves have been impressive on the road regardless of which rink they’re in, but Milwaukee seems to be extra productive for the boys in burgundy. The Wolves and Admirals each have scored 25 goals in the seven games of the series so far this season, but Chicago owns a 12-5 advantage in 22-19-8-1 25-15-5-1 scoring at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena this year. It’s not an easy question to answer -- even though today’s the final day before the AHL’s REGULAR-SEASON SERIES official holiday break -- because there are five teams separated by just two points. 2-1-1-0 Milwaukee | 2-1-0-1 Chicago Milwaukee owns the most points in the Central with 38, so the Admirals can assure themselves of first with a win today over Chicago. On the other hand, the Wolves (36 points) can own first place with a regulation win over the Admirals because they would have the most regulation and overtime wins in the division. Of course, Iowa (37 points) also has a say. If the Wild earn two points against Stockton again tonight, 16-9-5-1 16-9-3-1 then they’d have first place all to themselves if the Admirals get no points this afternoon. Oh, and the Eagles held a pregame ceremony to lift their 2018 REGULAR-SEASON SERIES 0-0-1-0 Colorado | 1-0-0-0 Chicago Kelly Cup banner to the rafters. The deck was stacked against them. LAST MEETING All of that pomp and circumstance led to an uneven start for the Wolves, but a magical finish. Just 48 April 22, 2018 seconds into overtime, 19-year-old defenseman Erik Brännström fired home the game-winning goal and the rest of the team mobbed him on the ice to celebrated their 3-2 triumph. After the Wolves’ first win in a road opener since 2013, these teams had to rest quickly in order to get 0-0-1-0 1-0-0-0 after it again tonight in their last meeting for six months. What’s at stake?
