Pioneer's International Music Summit Grand Finale Festival gets Ibiza’s 2012 clubbing season off to an electrifying start Submitted by: Kate Gordon Thursday, 31 May 2012 31st May 2012, Ibiza: Pioneer (http://www.djsounds.com/)’s position at the heart of the dance music industry has been reaffirmed with this year’s International Music Summit (IMS) Grand Finale Festival in Ibiza’s picturesque old town. As the only contemporary music event to be held within the Dalt Vila UNESCO World Heritage site, the IMS Grand Finale Festival is a truly momentous occasion. It officially marks the end of IMS and the opening of Ibiza’s world-famous clubbing season. This year DJ E.A.S.E., of Nightmares On Wax, kicked off proceedings as the setting sun bathed the Balearic island in a golden glow. Performances from Disclosure, Seth Troxler, Loco Dice, Azari & III and Carl Cox took the energised audience into the night. The crowd then headed over to Ibiza’s iconic Pacha nightclub, where Pete Tong and Calvin Harris raised the roof until the small hours. The previous evening had seen David Guetta, Paul Oakenfold, Diplo, MINX and Goldfish take to the stage at Dalt Vila as enthusiastic fans lapped up the atmosphere against the stunning backdrop of the Ibizan harbour. Now in its fifth year, the three-day IMS is one of the dance music industry’s most influential events. This year’s summit featured keynote speeches from internet giants such as Google, YouTube, Spotify and Twitter and interviews with legendary producers Giorgio Moroder and Nile Rodgers.

The global market for electronic dance music has been developing and expanding through its time and is the genre that I will be focusing on in the following paper. Looking especially at European markets, my interest is to see what new ways could be offered to Iceland’s artists, in the industry of electronic dance music, mainly dj’s and producers. The reason for this choice of subject is through interest, participation in the industry, and my beliefs that the Icelandic artists do have their voice to add, to the international nation of house music, which is one of many genres in the electronic dance music and the one that I will be focusing on in the following paper. With the use of qualitative research methods and studies from cultural economics, the work of this research has given me a broader and different perspective, and a better introduction to the culture of clubbing. Conclusions show that access would cost both time and money, and would require focus and cooperation between different parties.

Name : Jacqueline Sornia Lourdes Paul Xavier ID Number : 1001130269 Topic : Ultra Music Festival Lecturer : Mr. Lam Foo Tseng 1 A) INTRODUCTION This part will be contenting the following sections: 1) History of Ultra Music Festival 2) Genre 3) Location 4) Line Up 5) Consumer Insight 6) Copywriting Profiles and Styles 7) The T-Plan 1) History of Ultra Music Festival Fifteen years ago when electronic dance music (EDM) was a distant European fad blowing up across the ocean, Ultra Music Festival creators Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes were brainstorming ideas on how to cultivate a domestic EDM following. They then decided to throw a one-day concert coinciding with the annual Winter Music Conference, a Miami EDM expo which invites industry insiders and rising DJ’s for a month of workshops, concerts and roundtables. The results was the first Ultra Music Festival – more towards the average daytime rave taking place on the beautiful sands of South Miami Beach. 2 After the huge successes in 1999 and 2000 events, Faibisch and Ames moved the festival to Bayfront Park in downtown Miami to accommodate the expanding crowd. They partnered up with Winter Music Conference to make Ultra the conference’s anchor event.- shoving the small but mighty festival into the limelight for all of the world to see and attend. As the American EDM movement grew, so did Ultra Music Festival. The 2010 Ultra Music Festival marked an exponential explosion for the scene when Ultra sold out, motivating Faisbisch and Ames to expand the festival to a three – day soiree. In 2011, Ultra clashed with Winter Music Conference who then decided to throw its own festival earlier in the month but somehow Ultra held strong to its festival which is in the end of March dates, and so did the DJs and after-party planners who followed the festival’s lead, asserting the festival’s dominance as Miami’s largest electronic music event.

BAM! Complete Guide to Conferences - United States by Robert Baird #4 A guide to performing arts conferences in the United States BAM! Complete Guide to Conferences – U.S.A. Introduction Conferences take place for different reasons and everyone involved in the performing arts has to decide which conferences are most valuable for their particular goals. A presenter may attend a conference to book part of or a complete season, attend workshops, re-connect with colleagues, and take in local attractions or any combination of the above. An agent will most likely attend to connect with presenters, have an exhibit booth, and/or present artists from their roster in showcases. An artist may be attending to try to get an agent, see how the conference works, and pick up some ideas on how to be successful or to showcase at the event. Whatever the reason, conferences are part of the overall investment in your work and you must be selective in terms of time and effort you can expend on conferences in general. Conferences are expensive to attend and it may take some time before you are able to realize a return on your investment. Attendance at a conference has many benefits: • An opportunity to connect with colleagues • An opportunity to learn about the industry • An opportunity to showcase your talent (See BAM! Complete Guide to Showcasing) • An opportunity to experience different cultures, events, geography, climate, architecture and more.
