Dry Rising Mains Installation Inlet Breechings

Dry and wet rising mains are intended for use by the fire brigade or other trained personnel. They provide a readily available means of delivering considerable quantities of water to extinguish or to prevent the spread of fire.

Section 3 Dry risers are vertical mains fitted into staircase enclosures or other suitable positions, with outlet valves on each 4 floor and inlets fitted at ground level to enable the fire brigade to connect to the water supply.

Wet risers are pipes kept permanently charged with water either from a storage tank (via a booster pump) or direct from the town’s main water supply.

Before installing dry or wet rising mains the exact requirements of the local fire brigade must be ascertained.

Complies with BS 5041 Part 3 Air Release Valve

Landing Valve Dry riser inlet breechings are normally fitted in glass-front- ed cabinets on the outside walls of buildings and have either two or four inlet connections.

They are used to feed water into the rising main through 1 2 ⁄2" fire hoses. A 100mm (4") rising main uses a two-way inlet breeching and a 150mm (6") main uses a four-way inlet breeching.

Drain Valves to BS 5154 Dry R iser Mains I nstallation/ nlet Breechings Normally fitted to inlet breechings but can be supplied Landing Valve separately.

Two-way Inlet Breechings External Wall 4" BSTD, 4" BSP parallel female or 100mm NP16 – can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.
