Miss LE Pageant Information Saturday, January 23, 2021 LUGOFF ELGIN HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM I. The Miss LE Pageant will be held in the Lugoff Elgin High Auditorium on Saturday, 1/23/21. The theme is “She Believed She Could, So She Did” On Saturday, January 23, 2021 Freshman and Sophomore contestants will participate in the Junior Miss LE portion of the pageant and Junior and Senior contestants will participate in the Miss LE portion of the pageant. Depending on the number of young ladies who sign up to participate, there could be one pageant or two. If one, it will be at 6 PM. If two, Junior Miss LE will take place at 2 PM, and Miss LE will take place at 7 PM. All information provided here is subject to change based on/due to COVID restrictions and regulations. II. Qualifications a. A contestant cannot have any Level II or higher infractions on his/her discipline record. b. A contestant must have a C average (2.0) from August 2019 through now. c. No inappropriate social media postings. III. Disqualification a. A contestant will be disqualified at any time for the following reason: OSS. b. Please be responsible and carry yourself in a manner that would make Lugoff Elgin High School proud to have you as its representative. IV. Registration a. There is a $25 registration fee and $10 t-shirt fee. Please submit the fees plus the signed permission form along with your application (Google form) to Mrs. Bowers in the Wellness Center by Tuesday, th December 15 at 3:30 PM. b. The first 20 eligible girls for each pageant will be accepted. V. Meetings/Rehearsals/Important Dates: All rehearsals are CLOSED to everyone not involved! a. Tuesday, December 1 @ 3:30 PM – Interest Meeting b. Tuesday, December 15 by 3:30 PM – Applications (Google form), registration fee ($25.00), permission form, and t-shirt money ($10.00) are due. All info will be posted on demonactivities.com on Wednesday, December 16th. Your application must be submitted via https://forms.gle/RSHLgwtJCnDzaegaA. c. Thursday/Friday, December 17/ 18 – Draw numbers from Mrs. Bowers (Wellness Center) d. Saturday, January 2, 2021 – photos with Johnny Deal at Rock Bottom Pond at appointed time e. January 4-7, 2021 – Recorded interviews with Mrs. Bowers at appointed time f. Friday, January 8, 2021 – Ad copy/money due to Mrs. Bowers; Emcee Card due (Google form); group photos (in pageant shirt) at 4:30 PM (meet in Wellness Center Lobby) g. Tuesday/Wednesday, January 12/13 – see Mrs. Bowers in Wellness Center to choose photos h. Monday, January 18, 2021 - Mandatory, LEHS Auditorium. We will learn/practice the opening number, discuss pageant process, and practice walking the stage. Time will be emailed once we know numbers. i. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 - 3:30 mandatory practice; more info to come. j. Wednesday, January 20, 2021 - 3:30 mandatory practice; more info to come. k. Thursday, January 21, 2021 - 3:30 mandatory practice/dress rehearsal; more info to come. l. Friday, January 22, 2021 – 3:30 mandatory practice/dress rehearsal; more info to come. m. Dates and times are firm and MANDATORY. You may not be in the pageant if you miss. n. SPECIFICS FOR REHEARSALS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON NUMBERS (WHETHER WE HAVE ONE PAGEANT OR TWO). MORE DETAILS WILL BE GIVEN ONCE THE NUMBER OF CONTESTANTS IS KNOWN. CONTESTANTS MUST CHECK THEIR SCHOOL EMAIL REGULARLY. Miss LE 2021 Page 1 of 2 VI. Judging (All contestants will randomly draw a number to select the order of the contestants for the pageant.) a. Application counts 25%. Applications will be sent to the judges. This will be the judges’ first impression of you. Make it count! b. Interview counts 25%. Due to COVID, interviews will be recorded by Mrs. Bowers and sent to the judges. This will be the first time the judges will see you. Be prepared to answer questions about yourself, questions from your application and questions about local/national news. c. Casual Wear counts 25%. Contestant may wear a NONFORMAL outfit that represents her personal style. If formal wear is worn, judges will be instructed to deduct points. Ask if you are unsure! d. Formal Wear counts 25%. Contestant may choose any color or style for the evening gown. If you need any assistance with the evening gown, there are local organizations that can help. Please let Mrs. Bowers know. e. Personal Motto Statement. A Top Ten (Junior & Miss) will be determined from the above scores. The Top Ten will then be required to issue a personal motto statement with a brief explanation of why it was chosen. As Miss LE or Junior Miss LE, you should be able to demonstrate poise and confidence in speaking in front of a crowd. (Top Ten may be reduced depending on number of contestants.) f. IMPORTANT - Points may be deducted for tardiness to any of the meetings/deadlines given. VII. Winners Winners will be determined by the scores from the judges. The winners will include: Miss LE 2020 – highest score (scholarship, plaque, flowers, sash, tiara) Miss Senior – highest score among seniors outside Miss LE (plaque, flowers, sash, tiara) Miss Junior – highest score among juniors outside Miss LE (plaque, flowers, sash, tiara) Miss LE 2020 1st and 2nd runners up – (flowers, sash) Junior Miss LE 2020 – highest score (scholarship, plaque, flowers, sash, tiara) Miss Sophomore – highest score among sophomores outside Jr Miss (plaque, flowers, sash, tiara) Miss Freshman – highest score among freshmen outside Jr Miss (plaque, flowers, sash, tiara) Junior Miss LE 1st and 2nd runners up – (flowers, sash) Miss Congeniality – Junior & Miss; chosen by the contestants (flowers, plaque, sash) Miss Photogenic – Junior & Miss; chosen by the judges (flowers, plaque, sash) Miss Entrepreneur – highest dollar amount of ad sales (flowers, plaque, sash) Miss Fan Favorite – Junior & Miss; highest dollar amount raised in FF box (flowers, plaque, sash) VIII. Pictures and Slides a. Johnny Deal of Bowtie Photography will be taking pictures for your slides. You will select two pictures you would like to use in the pageant during slideshow at intermission, one picture for your program head shot, and one picture for your Miss Congeniality photo. The pictures will be taken on Saturday, January 2nd. We will take group photos in the pageant t-shirt and jeans on Friday, January 8th. IX. DVD/Video and Pictures a. Larry Dixon of Larry Dixon Videos will be making a DVD of the pageant ($20); see Mrs. Bowers in the Wellness Center to pre-order. b. Johnny Deal of Bowtie Photography will be taking pictures during the pageant. These will be available for purchase from his website after the pageant. (www.johnnydeal.smugmug.com) X. Ticket/Ad Information a. If we have one pageant, tickets will be $10. If there are two pageants, tickets will be $10 for each th pageant, or $15 for both. Tickets will go on sale January 4 in the Wellness Center. th b. Contestants are required to sell at least one $35 ad. All ad copy/money is due Friday, January 8 . XI. Questions a. The existing princess will continue her term until the crowning of the new princess in August or September. This will give the incoming princess time to choose a Charity. The most senior Princess- in-Waiting is given the priority in succeeding the current Princess; however, the more junior Princess(s)-in- Waiting may request a run-off to jump the line. This request must be submitted in writing to the Princess Committee no later than June 30th. In the March Kedge, a request/flyer will extend an invitation to all eligible young ladies interested in being a part of the MYC Princess program to submit an application for consideration no later than April 30th. UK: Legoland cancels Muslim family fun day in fear of “guest and employee safety” – Legoland cancelled a family outing organized by a prominent Muslim scholar in fear of guest and staff safety after they received a number of threatening calls, emails and social media posts. The family fun day which was organised by Sheikh Haitham al Haddad of the Muslim Research and Development Foundation (MRDF) for Sunday 9th March and would not be going ahead after a barrage of violent messages were made by far- right Islamophobic extremists. The English Defence League, Casuals United and other far-right groups vowed to hold a protest outside Legoland, many threatening to use violence to prevent the family outing. Legoland issued the following statement: The Legoland Windsor Resort prides itself on welcoming everyone to our wonderful attraction; however due to unfortunate circumstances the private event scheduled for Sunday 9th March will no longer take place. This was an incredibly difficult made after discussions with the organisers and local Thames Valley Police, following the receipt of a number of threatening phone calls, emails and social media posts to the Resort over the last couple of weeks. These alone have led us to conclude that we can no longer guarantee the happy fun family event which was envisaged or the safety of our guests and employees on the day – which is always our number one priority. “Sadly it is our belief that deliberate misinformation fuelled by a small group with a clear agenda was designed expressly to achieve this outcome.

Where culture and religion are fused, the traditional costume serves one of the most functions in rituals in Bali. This research aims to analyze the charac- teristics of Balinese costumes by focusing on the Legong dance costume. Quantitative re- search was performed using 332 images of Indonesian costumes and 210 images of Balinese ceremonial costumes. Qualitative research was performed by doing field research in Puri Saba, Gianyar and SMKN 3 SUKAWATI(Traditional Art Middle School). The paper illus- trates the influence and structure of Indonesian traditional costume. As the result, focusing on the upper wear costume showed that the ancient era costumes were influenced by animism. They consist of tube(kemben), shawl(syal), corset, dress(terusan), body painting and tattoo, jewelry(perhiasan), and cross. The Modern era, which was shaped by religion, consists of baju kurung(tunic) and kebaya(kaftan). The Balinese costume consists of the costume of participants and the costume of performers.

Grant n the history of post-secondary education in Canada, the creation of Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, might appear to be part of the pattern of denominational colleges Iin Nova Scotia. More accurately, however, Acadia helped to establish that pattern. In 1838, despite the 1818 founding of Dalhousie University in Halifax, the University of King’s Col- lege (est. 1789) in Windsor was the only chartered institution of higher learning that was active in Nova Scotia. King’s, however, was part of an Anglican establishment and until 1829 graduation required subscription to the thirty-nine articles of the Church of England, a requirement which made it impracticable for a Baptist, or a member of any other church, to attend. Dalhousie University had no religious test, but for its first twenty years it had no professors and no students.1 In the mid-1830s many Baptists anticipated the rejuvenation of Dalhousie as their principal hope for the higher education of their young men.
