Remove the plastic cover of the Accessory Shoe and mount an electronicf lash unit or f lasn gun in place. When usingan electronicf lashunit or f lashgun featuring a hot-shoe, simply insert it into the Accessory Shoe and keep the Protective Cap placedover the synchro terminal. lf your flash unit does not have a hot-shoe provision, clip it on the Accessory Shoe and plug the synchro-cordinto the synchro terminal of your camera, after removing the Protective cap. Turn the ExposureControl Ring to set it to the mark "J" . The shutter speedwill now be automaticallyset to 1/30second. Your Electro:35 is providedwith "X" contact,so picturescan be takeneither with an electronicflash unit or a flash gun. FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY (continued) Focus the cameraon your subject Read the camer.a-to-subjectrange off the Dis- tance Scale. Correct lens aperture is obtained by dividing the guide number'of the electronic flash (or flashbulb) by the camera-to-subjectdistance. Set the lens opening accordinglyby turning the Aper- ture Ring and trip the shutter. In flash photography, the correct exposure is determinedon the basisof the guide numbgr of the electronicflash unit or flashbulb. This guide number is normally indicatedon the packageor in the instructionmanual. To obtain the correct lens aperture, divide the guide number by the subject distance (metersor feet) as shown below (Distance in meters): GuideNumber (32) = (16) SubjectDistance (2m) LensAperture 29www.orphancameras.com ACCESSORIES To ward off extrane- ous reflected light, the use of the lens shade is advised. To fit the lens cap, flip back the lens shade as shown in the illustration. Filters are invaluable for special photo- graphic effects. Many kinds of 55mm screw-in type filters are availablefor color and B&W film. 31 Grip/TripodST-7 Unlikethe conventionaltripods, the Grip/TripodST-7 can be held againsta wall or your chestto eliminate camerashake in slow shutterspeed exposure. Being so small ,in size and light in.'weightwhile providing excellentstability, it is indispensablefor Electro35 featuringslow shutterspeed down to 30 seconds. • Canon R-Serie Canon Flex Mai 1959 Flex
Canon R-serie Canon Flex Mai 1959 Flex The top-class 35mm camera market gradually shifted from rangefinder cameras to single-lens reflex cameras. The major reason was that SLRs could handle close-ups, photomicrography, duplication work, and other applications without being constrained by the limits of rangefinder camera lenses. When Canon introduced the Canonflex, its first SLR, there were already eight SLR models on the market. The Canonflex used a high-quality, breechlock lens mount. The lens flange ring was turned to lock the lens onto the camera flange's bayonet lugs. The lens flange and camera flange did not rub against each other like today's lens mounts. The camera used Super-Canomatic lenses which had a fast, fully-automatic diaphragm. A 130-degree winding trigger at the camera bottom enabled quick film advance. An external selenium exposure meter could also be attached. Canon R-serie Canon Flex RP September 1960 Flex RP To cut costs, the camera had a fixed, eye-level pentaprism viewfinder. This was the economy or "Populaire" version of the Canonflex. The self-timer was operated by a simple lever, and the pentaprism cover was part of the single-piece top cover. Other features and performance were the same as the original Canonflex. Canon R-serie Canon Flex R2000 September 1960 Flex R2000 Deluxe version of the Canonflex. With a top shutter speed of 1/2000 sec., the fastest ever for any camera, the R2000 was a high-performance 35mm SLR. Other than that, it was the same as the original Canonflex. The viewfinder used a Fresnel matte focusing screen without a rangefinder.
