Being grand marshall lays a heavy responsi­ bility on them, and many people do not realize that they are behind the workings of Homecoming and Snow Festival. Amy and Karina worked and planned for weeks to make the Homecoming events a success. Some of the things that needed to be done were: the line-up and floats in the parade, nominations and elections of the queen, write-ups about each person to be put in the paper and announced, the "fun" days of the week, the assembly, and the crowing of the queen. For Snow Festival there isn't quite as much to be done, but it is very similar. But all this practice seemed to pay off. This years team had a lot of different changes to get use to with their new coach, Coach Knutson. It took then a couple of games to get all the nerves out and to get use to the new plays that were put on them, but after this happened they pulled theirselves together and really began looking like a team. This team had great determination, no matter how bad the odds were, or how far they were losing, they all stuck together as a team. The great­ est victory was the winning of Homecoming, with a score of 19 to 14. This really made the teams year, Come on Kelly this is no time to be playing kiss chase. but especially the seniors. A lot of the Players quoted "this was a great way to end the season." What kind of tackle was that? 106 DeteMnQtion Wait a minute guys this isn't fair! Things started to pick up a little too late for the Ladycats, but they still upheld and took pride. The Lady- cats played too much not to lose instead of aiming to win.     Glam Rock By Barney Hoskyns There's a new sensation A fabulous creation, A danceable solution To teenage revolution Roxy Music, 1973 1: All the Young Dudes: Dawn of the Teenage Rampage Glamour – a word first used in the 18th Century as a Scottish term connoting "magic" or "enchantment" – has always been a part of pop music. With his mascara and gold suits, Elvis Presley was pure glam. So was Little Richard, with his pencil moustache and towering pompadour hairstyle. The Rolling Stones of the mid-to- late Sixties, swathed in scarves and furs, were unquestionably glam; the group even dressed in drag to push their 1966 single "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?" But it wasn't until 1971 that "glam" as a term became the buzzword for a new teenage subculture that was reacting to the messianic, we-can-change-the-world rhetoric of late Sixties rock. When T. Rex's Marc Bolan sprinkled glitter under his eyes for a TV taping of the group’s "Hot Love," it signaled a revolt into provocative style, an implicit rejection of the music to which stoned older siblings had swayed during the previous decade. "My brother’s back at home with his Beatles and his Stones," Mott the Hoople's Ian Hunter drawled on the anthemic David Bowie song "All the Young Dudes," "we never got it off on that revolution stuff..." As such, glam was a manifestation of pop's cyclical nature, its hedonism and surface show-business fizz offering a pointed contrast to the sometimes po-faced earnestness of the Woodstock era.

Pierre Bourdieu’s theories of cultural production provide the theoretical tools to approach the company as a cultural producer and not only as theatre artists. Te Living Teatre has produced largely unpopular avant-garde and political theatre for seventy years. I argue that the company’s early years demonstrate a growing reserve of symbolic capital that helps explain the company’s longevity. Furthermore, the manner in which certain events in the company’s history have been mythologized, by company members, critics, and scholars, has led to some historically inaccurate accounts. In particular, accounts of the closing of the company’s production of Te Brig in 1963 and the subsequent trial of Beck and Malina in 1964 have often been infuenced by an acceptance of company member’s anecdotal, “tall tales” approach to history rather than historical evidence and archival documents.

Buckminster Fuller is credited with coining the phrase, “the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.” What he was really trying to say was that if a group of individually talented people work together successfully “that teamwork will produce an overall better result than if each person” was trying to do their own thing. That’s a overtly mathematical explanation for a successful band. But with a successful band, you got your math and then you got your chemistry. The end result is an unpredictable outcome of the collision between math and chemistry…with a whole bunch of emotion in between. And when it works out, it’s a miracle. Exile may well be the most textbook illustration of this theory; if not in deed certainly in accomplishment and longevity. Case in point: How many other bands formed in 1963 are still speaking to one another? God would probably not singled out Richmond, KY, 1963, as the starting point of His grand cultural experiment. Since the primary industries in this smidge of a central Kentucky community were tobacco-growing, whiskey-distilling, the Blue Grass Army Depot and God-fearing, band-rearing is in nearly direct conflict with the mission of the neighborhood. Cooking up rabble-rousing musical concoctions of rawknroll, R&B & LA-scenster pop are all dern good reasons to cast out the long-haired, mod clothes-wearing, rebellious rascals. So cast out were “The Exiles” as the band was originally named. The lemons-to-lemonade good news in being cast out, in part, gave them their name.
