In January of 1978, the first large-scale coach­ ing clinic for hockey was held in the Philadelphia area. Over four hundred coaches from the area braved the snow, sleet and ice to listen to Pat Quinn, , Terry Crisp and others share their ' knowledge of hockey. The clinic, sponsored by the Flyers, Hockey Central and the Amateur Hockey Association of the United States, was called a suc­ cess by all.
