Tour of California – 6 Biomatematický model 2016: Tour of California – 6. etapa Ti, kteří nejsou na Giru jsou v Kalifornii a to včetně dvou našich zástupců v týmu Etixx‐Quick Step – Zdeňka Stybara a Petra Vakoče. 8 etapová tour of California má tradičně skvělé mediální pokrytí a na webu http://microsofttourtracker.amgentourofcalifornia.com/ v sekci Replays lze zpětně podívat na kompletní záznamy všech etap . Za shlédnutí jistě stojí dojezd 1 etapy, zajímavé pohledy přináší i netradiční závěr 4. etapy s dojezdem na závodní okruh Laguna Seca, kteří mnozí znají z přenosů MotoGP. Pro Biomatematický model nás samozřejmě zajímala 6. etapa – individuální časovka na 20,3 km na zvlněné trati ve Folsomu. Zdeněk Štybar trošku kuriózně nestartoval na časovkářské speciálu, přesto za sebou nechal polovinu pole. Plně aerodynamický Petr Vakoč zajel velmi dobře a skončil 21. Souběžně se závodem mužů probíhá i Tour of California žen, který na stejné trati ve Folsomu měla zařazenou týmovou časovku Jak se dařilo jezdcům BMM? Více ve výsledkové listině na další straně.     109de SCHELDEPRIJS 2021 7 april JASPER PHILIPSEN, EERSTE BELGISCHE WINNAAR, 15 JAAR NA TOM BOONEN Na de oktober-editie van 2020, opnieuw een Scheldeprijs in het voorjaar. Toch had het nog heel wat voeten in de aarde vooraleer de 109de editie kon starten in Terneuzen. Tot enkele uren voor de start dreigden zelfs felle windstoten en onverwachte sneeuwvlagen roet in het eten te strooien. Bovendien tierde, zowel in Neder- land als in België, het coronaspook nog welig. Daardoor werden enkele laattijdige forfaits opgetekend (Trek- Segafredo met ex-wereldkampioen Mads Pedersen en Groupama-FDJ met Frans kampioen Arnaud Démare) en gingen er uiteindelijk 149 renners van start in het winderige Terneuzen, waarbij een plejade van topsprin- ters. Zoals te verwachten werden er dadelijk waaiers gevormd, die dan weer bijeenkwamen, dan weer uit elkaar waaiden. Gejaagd door de wind werden er 50 km afgelegd in het eerste uur. Een eerste waaiergroep van 14 renners werd gevormd door Bennett, Philipsen, Van Moer, Ackermann, Schwarzmann, Burghardt, Politt, Morkov, Danny van Poppel, Vahtra, Nizzolo, Walscheid, Rickaert en Russ. Een tweede groepje volgde op 40” (Kristoff, Merlier, Bol, Cavendish, Sénéchal, De Bondt, Dewulf, Selig, Van Lerberghe, Koch, Mozzato, Siskevicius, Van Gestel, van Schip, Bugter, Havik), het peloton gaf 1’45” toe. Na een felle strijd kwamen groep 1 en 2 bij elkaar en de goede trein was vertrokken, het peloton zou hen nooit meer terugzien. Tim Merlier ging bij het naderen van Schoten uit de bocht en kegelde meteen ook ex-winnaar Alexander Kris- toff uit koers. De situatie wijzigde niet meer en 29 renners rukten op naar de finish.
