Its purpose was to dig deeper into that facts as to why Ford was doing poorly during the 1970’s and not in others times through the use of historical resources and through an interview of someone who experienced these events. Biography Vincent Sheehy was born in Washington DC in 1928. Throughout his life he has lived in the Washington DC and today he resides in Virginia. After graduating from Gonzaga High School he went to Catholic University for college and got a BA in psychology. His father offered him a job into the car business, which was the best offer available to him at the time. He started out a grease rack mechanic and did every job in the store at the Ford on Georgia Ave in the 50’s. He worked as a mechanic in the parts department and became a owner until he handed down the dealership to his kids. He got married to his wife in 1954 and currently has 5 kids. He is interested in golf, skiing and music. When he was younger he participated in the Board of Washington Opera. -

This is an action on behalf of all purchasers of the common stock of Ford Motor Company, Inc. ("Ford") between March 31, 1998 and August 31, 2000 (the "Class Period"). This action arises out of the conduct of Ford to conceal from the investment community defects in Ford's Explorer sport-utility vehicles equipped with steel-belted radial ATX tires manufactured by Bridgestone Corp.'s U.S. subsidiary, Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. ("Bridgestone/Firestone"). The Explorer is Ford's most important product and its largest selling vehicle, which has accounted for 25% of Ford's profits during the 1990s. Due to the success of the Explorer, Ford became Bridgestone/ Firestone's largest customer and sales of ATX tires have been the largest source of revenues and profits for Bridgestone/Firestone during the 1990s. During the Class Period, Ford and Bridgestone had knowledge ofthousands ofclaims for and complaints concerning ATX tire failures, especially ATX tires manufactured at Bridgestone/Firestone's Decatur, Illinois plant during and after a bitter 1994-1996 strike, due to design and manufacturing defects in, and under-inflation of, the tires, which, when combined with the unreasonably dangerous and unstable nature of the Explorer, resulted in over 2,200 rollover accidents, 400 serious injuries and 174 fatalities by 2000. -

Introduction 1.1 Conventional account The Ford Pinto case is today considered a classic example of corporate wrong-doing and is a mainstay of courses in engineering ethics, business ethics, philosophy, and the sociology of white- collar crime. The conventional account of the case goes something like this: In the mid-1960’s, Ford decided to rush a new subcompact car, the Pinto, into production to meet the growing competition from foreign imports. Because development was hurried, little time was available to modify the design when crash tests revealed a serious design defect: to provide adequate trunk space, the gas tank had been located behind rather than on top or in front of the rear axle. As a result, the Pinto was highly vulnerable to lethal fires in rear-end collisions and was in fact a “fire trap” and a “death trap.” Ford decided to ignore the defect anyway, because re-design would have delayed the entry of the car into the market and caused a potential loss of market share to competitors. As reports of fire- related deaths in Pintos began to come in from the field and as further crash tests re- affirmed the danger of the fuel-tank design, Ford decision-makers made an informed and deliberate decision not to modify the design, because doing so would harm corporate profits. -

RESOLUTION NO. 2020-087 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELK GROVE AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO SELL OR OTHERWISE DISPOSE OF SURPLUS CITY PROPERTY IN THE FORM OF LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES, LAW ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT, AND TRANSIT VEHICLES WHEREAS, the City of Elk Grove purchased vehicles to be utilized by the Elk Grove Police Department and Transit Division in the normal course of their duties; and WHEREAS, staff has designated fourteen law enforcement vehicles as surplus, as they have reached the end of their service life based on years in service, high mileage, and/or frequency/cost of repairs, and collision damage, and three transit vehicles as surplus as they have reached the end of their service life based on years in service, high mileage, and/or high frequency/cost of repairs; and WHEREAS, the law enforcement vehicles are equipped with emergency response equipment that shall be removed prior to any public sale; and WHEREAS, Elk Grove Municipal Code Chapter 3.42 specifies the terms and conditions for the disposition of surplus City property; and WHEREAS, the City of Elk Grove desires to surplus fourteen law enforcement vehicles, their emergency response equipment, and three transit vehicles, and sell at fair market value or otherwise dispose of the assets. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Elk Grove hereby authorizes the Finance Director to exercise the sale or disposal of surplus City property in the form of fourteen law enforcement vehicles, including the disposal of any associated emergency response equipment, and three transit vehicles as shown in Exhibit A to this resolution, incorporated herein by reference, through sale to other law enforcement agencies, re-use by the City, or designated as unsalvageable, based on the needs of the City; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that proceeds from any sale or disposal of the surplus vehicles shall be deposited into the Facilities and Fleet Internal Services Fund and Transit Fund, as appropriate. -

How many Newfie mechanics does it take to fix a car? President’s Message Where did the summer go? It will soon be time to put our cars away for another winter. Although the weather wasn’t very cooperative few shows were attended in and around the city. Classic Wheels 2008 was a success as in past years. From the proceeds, presentations will be made to Easter Seals and the VOCM Cares Foundation. Two scholarships were awarded as part of the 1 st . Annual NACCC Scholarship Program. The Bergs Run was attended by more than a dozen children with their parents or chaperons from Easter Seals. Before the season comes to an end we have another chance to show our cars at the 2 nd . Annual Ladies Show and Wheels of Summer in Clarenville. As NACCC President for 2007/08 I would like to thank the NACCC Executive for their dedication and hard work. It has been my pleasure to represent the NACCC and its members.
