How to Build a Membership Recognition Brings Responsibility

Dan Brown’s latest novel, The Lost Symbol, has raised a lot of awareness about the Fraternity and the Scottish Rite. On a recent vacation, it seems like nearly every other person I saw reading a book had a copy. My friends and business associ- ates are suddenly a little more interested in what I might know about the topics raised and have told me of their experiences in Washington, DC with some of the sites in the book or their plan to specifically search them out on their next trip. Fewer people who visit the Scottish Rite Cathedral now think of it as Executive Director a “church” and at least have some awareness, although still not a clear understanding, of who we are.
