How Do AHA eBooks and Streaming Work?

Q: What is an eBook? A: American Association (AHA) eBooks allow users to read publications on personal computers and mobile devices. Users can read eBooks online or download them for offline reading.

Q: What is a course in streaming format? A: AHA course videos are available in streaming format and feature the same content as the course DVDs. This format allows instructors to stream course videos with an Internet connection and is an alternative option to DVDs and DVD players. Streaming videos are to be used by AHA instructors teaching courses.

Q: What are my rights to the content? A: eBooks: When you purchase an eBook or redeem an access code, you are obtaining the right to read the content online as well as download it to your own device to be accessed offline. These rights are subject to technology conditions and limitations as well contractual agreements between the AHA and its vendors.

Streaming Videos: When you purchase a streaming video or redeem an access code, you are obtaining the right to watch the content online. These rights are subject to technology conditions and limitations as well contractual agreements between the AHA and its vendors.

Q: If the science in an eBook changes, or if there are updates to the course details before the new edition releases, will receive updates automatically? A: Individual AHA eBooks are updated if/when there are major science changes, the course details change, errors occur, or other updates are needed for the edition of the book purchased. Otherwise, supplementary materials with minor changes will be provided.

Q: Can I share my eBooks and streaming videos among multiple users? A: AHA eBooks and streaming videos are linked to an individual’s eBookstore account. The AHA does not condone the sharing of username/login credentials among multiple users.

Q: What is the device limit for eBooks and streaming videos? A: A user’s AHA eBookstore account can be logged into a maximum of three devices at once. Devices can be managed in the Account section of the eBookstore under Device List. Streaming videos and eBooks are for single instructors and are intended to be viewed on one device at a time.

How Do I Purchase eBooks and Streaming Videos?

Q: Getting Started and Logging in To Your Account A: To make a purchase from the AHA eBookstore, you first need to create an account. 1. Visit the AHA eBookstore to create an account. 2. If you already have an account with the AHA Instructor Network, simply log in at the top right of the home page.

Q: Purchasing an eBook or Streaming Video on eBooks.Heart.org A: 1. Select the item you wish to purchase from the Catalog on the home page of the AHA eBookstore and click “Add to Cart.” 2. Enter billing information and complete purchase. 3. Once the item is purchased, it will become available on your Shelf.

Q: Redeeming an Access Code A: 1. At the top left of the home page, enter your access code where it says, “E n ter Access Code.” If the code is correct, you will be notified that it is accepted and then have the option to view your content online. 2. Once the access code is redeemed, the eBook or streaming video will become available on your Shelf.

Q: Accessing Your Purchased eBook or Streaming Video A: eBooks can be accessed 4 ways:

1. Online by using a computer’s browser on eBooks.Heart.org (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc.) 2. Online by using a tablet’s browser on eBooks.Heart.org (Safari, Google Chrome, etc.) 3. Using a mobile app for iOS or Android operating systems (you must first download the app on your device) 4. Using the AHA eBooks Reader application on your desktop computer (you must first download the app on your device)

Q: What can I do with my eBook? A: In addition to reading and downloading, you can: ● Search: AHA eBooks are searchable; you can search within a book or across your eBook library ● Customize: You can highlight text on the screen, bookmark pages, or add notes throughout the eBook ● Easily navigate: In addition to accessing eBooks from your library, you can access your notes, bookmarks, and highlights, which become part of your dashboard and quick links

Q: Can I print my eBook? A: No. AHA eBooks and their pages cannot be printed.

Note: For instructors outside the United States and Canada, printable Lesson Plans are included with the purchase of your international Instructor Manual (a downloadable PDF). The printable Lesson Plans provide an option for those instructors who prefer printed material during class instruction.

Q: How do I access the student supplementary materials for a course? A: You’ll find a code below the acknowledgements section (in the front of your course manual) to access the student supplementary materials for your course.

Q: Are institutional subscriptions available for libraries? A: Yes. AHA eBooks has Institutional Subscriptions available for libraries. Visit ahainst.ipublishcentral.com for more information. Streaming videos are not included in institutional libraries.

How Do I Watch Streaming Videos?

Q: What can I do with my streaming videos? A: Streaming videos have the following functions: ● Search: Streaming videos have searchable playlists to easily access certain parts of the course video ● Select Course Option: You can access the course selection drop-down menu to easily access different courses including Instructor-Led and HeartCode. ● Easily navigate: Manually advance to next video, easily return to the previous video to review, or scroll through the playlist to select certain videos

Q: Can I download my streaming videos? A: No. Streaming videos are not available to download at this time. You must be connected to the Internet to access streamable course video.

Q: W h at is the return policy on an eBook or streaming video? A: As with all electronic AHA products, eBooks and streaming videos cannot be returned. Once the item is purchased, the sale is considered complete and final. Note: If you did not purchase your eBook or streaming video through this site (eBooks.Heart.org), you must speak directly with the distributor or training center you purchased it from.

Q: What types of files are eBooks and streaming videos and what are their restrictions? A: Additional information about AHA eBooks:

• AHA eBooks are encrypted PDF/ePub2 files. • AHA Streaming Videos are .mp4 files • You can download eBooks to the iPublishCentral Reader on your personal computer for offline viewing (PC or Mac). You cannot use a third-party application to read AHA eBooks. • AHA eBooks cannot be printed. • eBooks purchased through the AHA eBookstore cannot be read on Apple’s iBook app or any other third-party readers (e.g. Kindle, Barnes and Noble eReader, Stanza, Mobipocket Reader, Microsoft Reader). They must be accessed through the AHA eBooks app, iPublishCentral Reader, or online. • eBooks and streaming videos purchased on the AHA eBookstore cannot be downloaded as a file. • eBooks and streaming videos cannot be downloaded or copied to a flash drive.

Q: What platforms support eBooks and streaming videos? A: Online browsers:

● Chrome – Version 70 and above ● Firefox – Version 63 and above ● Safari – Version 12 and above ● Internet Explorer – Version 11 and above ● iOS device browsers – Version 11 and above ● Android device browsers – Version 9.0 and above

iOS App: AHA eBooks app can be installed on iPhones and iPads with iOS version 11 and above. Android App: AHA eBooks app can be installed on tablets and smartphones with Androids OS version 9.0 and above.
