To Purchase Your Foster Theater Program, Contact the Group Sales Department at 216-515-1228 FOSTER THEATER PROGRAM (ages 19+) Take your visit to the next level! Get interactive with our Voice Your Choice program or explore the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees with Rock Hall experts in our state-of-the-art Foster Theater located on Level 4 of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Each program last approximately 45 minutes and is available 9am-5pm Monday through Thursday year-round. The program fee is $250 for groups of 15-50. For groups of 51 or more, the program fee is $5pp. Foster Theater capacity is 163 seats. We can accommodate large groups with back-to-back programs. This fun, interactive program simulates the Induction process – from nomination to voting to induction. LONG LIVE ROCK: THE HISTORY OF THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME Dive into the history of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Foundation, Induction process and how Cleveland built the Rock Hall. INDUCTEE SPOTLIGHT: THE CLASS OF 2020 Rock Hall experts will explore the lives and music of the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees – Depeche Mode, The Notorious B.I.G., Nine Inch Nails, The Doobie Brothers, T. Rex, Whitney Houston, Irving Azoff, and Jon Landau. WOODSTOCK AT 50 Rock Hall experts celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock – one of the seminal moments in rock and roll history – and examine its impact on music and culture. DISCLAIMERS: Programs last approximately 45 minutes. Staff must be scheduled at least three weeks in advance through your sales rep. If for some reason the program(s) cannot be filled due to circumstances outside of our control, the program fee will be refunded post-group visit. Jon Landau the advent of Bruce Springsteen, who made rock and roll a matter of life and death again, seemed nothing short of a miracle to me . Bruce Springsteen is the last of rock's great innocents. Dave Marsh Whether these respected critics see Springsteen as the future of great rock or the end of it, they do regard him with respect for his ability to convey the basic feeling of rock. And they are not alone in this opinion. From the start of his career, Springsteen has received a great deal of critical acclaim. This acclaim, in part because of his performing ability, seems quite fitting since his shows usually last for two and a half hours and often continue for four or even five hours. Over the years, the “E Street”/”Elvis” connection has remained strong. Most recently, Springsteen participated along with E Street Band members Nils Lofgren and Patti Scialfa in the Elvis: Viva Las Vegas television special (now on DVD in the U.S., where it hit #1 on the Billboard DVD sales chart), and its accompanying soundtrack album. E Streeters Garry Tallent and Max Weinberg also were on hand at this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to induct Elvis’ original drummer and bassist, D.J. Fontana and the late Bill Black. Presley was only forty-two years old when his life tragically ended. “They found him slumped up against the drain,” Bruce Springsteen would later sing of his fallen idol, “with a whole lot of trouble running through his veins; Bye-bye, Johnny; Johnny, bye-bye; You didn’t have to die; you didn’t have to die.” While Elvis’ premature decline and death did absolutely nothing to stop his immense cultural influence, it did rob the world of many more years of music from this great artist. It also ensured that Bruce Springsteen would never get another chance to meet the man who initially inspired his own musical career. (He had two chances: one famous unofficial chance when he jumped the wall at Graceland in 1976 and one not-as-famous in 1977 when local concert promoters offered Springsteen an official chance to meet Elvis backstage before his final Philadelphia concert.) But what if Bruce had gotten to meet Elvis before August 16, 1977? Might things have turned out any differently for either or both of them, as well as the many other lives they affected? In this work of speculative fiction, Shawn Poole ponders the possibilities, poignantly reminding us of the promise and potential that tragically disappeared in that long ago summer.

Rex until I was watching the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction show on HBO on Sunday night. Now available on HBO On Demand and streaming on HBO Max, the show is the COVID- 19 replacement for the usual induction ceremony. Ordinarily, honorees are introduced by a celebrated peer, deliver what passes for an acceptance speech and play a few songs with a jam session to wrap up the evening. That wasn’t possible this year. So the 35th class went into the Rock Hall with short films sketching the lives and careers of the inductees, capped by a remotely filmed acceptance speech. While it was missing the music, which is often the best part of the ceremony, the video version in some ways worked better than the live, in-person ceremony in providing looks at the honorees — Depeche Mode, the Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., T. Rex and managers Irving Azoff and Jon Landau — that illuminated why they were deserving of induction. That, sadly, is likely most needed for T. Rex, which, in 2020, is largely unknown or forgotten in the U.S. You have likely heard the British band’s only American hit “Get It On (Bang a Gong).” But Marc Bolan and his band were never U.S. rock stars. It is a real belter, pumps you up, would be a great show opener. Would have been right at home on Darkness. Has you rocking from go to woe. Bruce leaves nobody behind on this and you’re taken on a six minute power ride, and there is no time for stopping. This was initially recorded back in 1982 with the Born In The USA sessions, but did not see an official release until the release of greatest hits in 1995. From the get go it sounds like classic Springsteen. The thud of Max’s drums, followed with the intro of the guitars. The organs feature prominently too. And for the next six minutes, you feel compelled to tap your foot to the beat and fill with anger, because let’s face it, this song doesn’t exactly put a smile on your face. That’s not to say songs need to have a happy vibe about them to enjoy them. The sax solo feels like it’s just been shoved in for the sake of it. But somehow Bruce managed to make it work. Nils’ wows us with a blistering solo before the bridge and we are treated to one final verse and raspy Bruce belts out a “I could tell you were just frustrated livin with Murder Incoporated.” Bruce struts his stuff and nearly sets his guitar on fire, Stevie throws a punch back (much like the Saint duel at Hammersmith), but Bruce shows why he’s Boss.

It's only fitting, because they approached the rock'n'roll scene with guns drawn, armed to the teeth; they were gonna take over, be the Baddest Boys in the Bad Boy world of rock and roll, fuse politics with rock, dope (read: religion), and fucking in the streets and market it all as one neat package, precisely labelled: The Revolution. They possessed roots all the way back to the Crusaders in the eleventh century, they were filled with real righteous American zeal, religious fervor, a sense of purpose and of necessity. This was the MC5, brothers and sisters, the hottest highest energy crew of dudes to come pouring out of the bad-assed Motor City into the American cultural continuum since the halcyon days of the notorious Purple Gang. And what's more: they meant business. Or so it seemed. Despite all the complications, as they say, the reception to their albums has been good, in many places as phenomenal as they knew all along it would be, as they were confident it HAD to be. Their live performances were another question though, especially in those early days. The Five's sets tended more towards flash'n'frenzy than anyone aside from the Who, and the problem was that there were numerous people in the dark days of the late sixties who just weren't ready for shock-rock.
