Curta-metragem. Educação. Estética. ABSTRACT This dissertation is of a qualitative nature and uses the short films of Pixar Animation Studios in education and as a general aim to explain whether these short films are pedagogical tools that help build knowledge in the classroom. From this assumption we try to get to know the pedagogical practice of teachers who use these resources in the classroom, as well as analyze whether these works bring elements that help to reflect on the reality of the student and, finally, confirm whether the short films are important in building knowledge. The research used the theoretical references based on Projection-Identification-Transference and thoughts on aesthetics involving Paulo Freire and Edgar Morin. Furthermore, field research was also undertaken through structured interviews with teachers. Based on the analysis and interpretation of th e data collected, it could be concluded that short films do contribute to the building of knowledge and learning in the classroom. The results indicated that the showing of films culminated in activities, in which the students gave thought to the themes presented in the cinematographic works and produced new works from the short films. The educators recognize the importance of working with the films. This study, therefore, highlights the potential that can be gained from the use of animated films in the classroom in broadening dialogues in the building of knowledge. Keywords: Animated film. Short film. Education. Aesthetics.

ABSTRACT Mara Ashley Waters Director: Sarah-Jane Murray, Ph.D. Stories are a way for us to share what we love and believe to everyone in the world. It's a medium that has the ability to cross all divisions, no matter our differences. With storytelling comes the responsibility of what truth, or danger, we choose to create and give to the world. With this in mind, my story takes on the task of giving a villain's backstory rather than a hero's, attempting to show that even the worst of characters that pop off of the page have so much more to them than just inherent evil. ! ! Attachment # 1: R&C-2018-14 2018 Arts & Culture Wall of Fame Inductees Background Information REZZ Though young at 22 years of age, REZZ is anything but an amateur as a producer of genre-bending works, striking a sharp balance between bass heavy and minimal tech composition. With a strong vision and no two ways about it, REZZ’s decisiveness is arguably the key to her success so far. She began to build a following on Soundcloud with a series of free releases which in a short time inevitably caught the ears of EDM golden boys Skrillex and Deadmau5, who helped bring her out to the masses with near back-to-back releases of a three-track ‘Insurrection EP’ on OWSLA’s The Nest imprint in 2015, followed by the ‘Serenity EP’ via Mau5trap in 2016. After the release of the ‘Something Wrong Here EP’ in October 2016 on Mau5trap, her ever-evolving and idiosyncratic electro sound has continued to grow stronger. With her first full-length album “Mass Manipulation” out since August 2017, she has wowed at festivals internationally including six dates in Asia with Ultra Music Festival, Bonnaroo and Electric Zoo. She is currently supporting “Mass Manipulation” with a 27-date international tour that continues to see sold-out dates across North America. Winner of 2018 Juno for Electronic Album of the Year for “Mass Manipulation” Alan Barillaro Alan Barillaro was born in Niagara Falls in 1975. He grew up in the community of Chippawa and went to school at Sacred Heart Elementary. Barillaro’s interest in art and animation began at a young age.

  • 1 “I Grew up Loving Cars and the Southern California Car Culture. My Dad Was a Parts Manager at a Chevrolet Dealership, So V
“I grew up loving cars and the Southern California car culture. My dad was a parts manager at a Chevrolet dealership, so ‘Cars’ was very personal to me — the characters, the small town, their love and support for each other and their way of life. I couldn’t stop thinking about them. I wanted to take another road trip to new places around the world, and I thought a way into that world could be another passion of mine, the spy movie genre. I just couldn’t shake that idea of marrying the two distinctly different worlds of Radiator Springs and international intrigue. And here we are.” — John Lasseter, Director ABOUT THE PRODUCTION Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Studios are off to the races in “Cars 2” as star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and his best friend, the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy), jump-start a new adventure to exotic new lands stretching across the globe. The duo are joined by a hometown pit crew from Radiator Springs when they head overseas to support Lightning as he competes in the first-ever World Grand Prix, a race created to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the finish line is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and bombshells when Mater is mistakenly ensnared in an intriguing escapade of his own: international espionage. Mater finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and “towing” the line in a top-secret mission orchestrated by master British spy Finn McMissile (voice of Michael Caine) and the stunning rookie field spy Holley Shiftwell (voice of Emily Mortimer).

  • Meiermovies Short Films by Star Rating
MeierMovies Short Films by Star Rating Theatrically released motion pictures of 40 minutes or less For every great feature, there’s a great short, and this list attempts to chronicle just some of those tiny masterpieces – and their not-so-masterful counterparts. For films to make this list, they must have played in at least one film festival or showcase, or theatrical venue, for a paying audience. Films shown only on television (or available only on DVD, Blu-ray, video or online) are reserved for my Television list. Also not included here are student films and similar projects that have never been presented at a theatrical venue that charged admission to viewers. (Please note that this is slightly more lenient than the qualifications for the feature- film lists, which require that a film of more than 40 minutes play at least two major festivals, or have a limited or general release.) Theatrical newsreels (pre-television) and theatrically released trailers are not eligible for this list, although mini-documentaries and travelogues (typically playing alongside trailers and B-features in the 1930-1950s) are. Short films shown at theme parks and museums are eligible, but not if they rely on animatronic/interactive/live elements. Shorts produced for timed competitions, such as 48-hour or 24-hour projects, are not included here, unless those films were subsequently screened at a second venue. The ratings system is the same as that of the feature-film list, just with no half or quarter stars. That difference is due to simplification and also to the fact that it’s admittedly difficult, and perhaps somewhat unfair, to compare a 2-minute film to a 40- minute one using quarter stars.
