THE NIGHTHAWK NEWS Mr.Spragues newspaper staff Charlie Brown Dance The dance: Here’s an interview from James, a sixth grader who went to the dance and had a great time: What was your favorite part about the dance? Why? ● “My favorite part of the dance was when it was closing and “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo was playing. Me and my friends love that song and we were dancing to it and screaming along with the lyrics, all in all it was very fun.” How did you like the dance theme? ● “The Charlie Brown dance theme was great. I liked the decorations and the drawings that were put up on the wall.” Have you been to any dances before? If so how was your experience those past times? ● “I went to a dance in fifth grade, but it wasn’t like the one we had here. All people did in my fifth grade dance was sit in the corner and use their phone. THE NIGHTHAWK NEWS Mr.Spragues newspaper staff Color Run Topic: The way this fundraiser works is by paying an entrance fee and for color packets. When you purchase the packets they will come the day of the run. They come in different colors like blue, purple, orange, pink, and green. The color packets are made up of cornstarch and food coloring. They were pretty small, but they were very effective. In the color run you would generally wear all white and running shoes. It starts near the end of school, at about 1:30. You would gather in the quad area where the track started. Also, when you want to pay the entrance fee or/and color packets you would go to an ASB rep so they can highlight your name. It lasts about an Picture topics: hour and by the time you were done (Students at the color run) you were wet and covered in color. The Color Run is a fundraiser for the school, it cost $5. The Color Run is an activity where teachers throw color and water at the students as they run through a set track. It’s a fun way to earn money for the school. Christmas is an annual festival commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, observed primarily on December 25th as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. A feast central to the christian liturgical year, it is by the season of Advent or the Nativity fast and initiates the season of christmastide, which historically in the west lasts twelve days and culminates on the twelfth Night; in some traditions, Christmastide includes an octave. Christmas day is a public holiday in many of the world’s nations, is celebrated religiously by a majority of christians, as well as culturally by many non-christians, and forms an integral part of the holiday season centered around it. Person 2: This year has honestly been really good so far, I’ve made so many friends over the years & grown a lot as a person. What are you guys learning about in 8th grade? Person 1: We’re currently learning about the French and Indian war & doing light/electricity STEM projects. What's your favorite thing you have done in 8th grade so far? Person 1: My favorite thing we’ve probably done in eighth grade is the eighth grade battles. It’s really fun rooting for our homeroom classes & fighting for whose the best. ● 6th grade: How’s the year been so far? Person: 1 The year has been kind of difficult but fun at the same time. What's your favorite thing you’ve done so far Person: 1 Our favorite thing we’ve done so far is the self portraits. What are you guys doing in 6th grade? Winter is very cold though, and that’s one downside. Ever got frostbite? I haven’t, but I’ve got hurt by a snowball so yeah. Winter is usually the season for snow but if you live somewhere it is hot then it is most likely a season for bitter cold and no snow. For people who celebrate Christmas it is a season for Red green and blue lights, a season for caroling, a season for giant socks under a burning fire, a season for a man to break into your house, steal cookies, and put presents under a pine tree, and a season for when it is perfectly fine to have a real or fake pine tree in your house and it being decorated with glitter plastic balls and candy shaped as a walking cane.
