“Wine Is Bottled Poetry” Robert Louis Stevenson, Scottish Author (1850-1894) - OUR DRINKS PHILOSOPHY - Coppersmith has always been passionate about providing the best range of wines, beers and spirits. Sourcing predominately from Victoria and Western Australia is key in compiling our drinks list. Our wine selection must meet three key criteria, the best possible wine per region, the most interesting wines per varietal & the wine must be of quality and value. Our beer selection is based on sourcing unique and varied beers from Victoria and Western Australia, to represent where we are and where we have come from. Our spirits selection is one of diversity and complexity. Selecting the finest gins, rums, vodkas and liqueurs to tempt all tastes and budgets, whether it is an aperitif to start your day or a digestive to round out your night. “Wine is bottled poetry” Robert Louis Stevenson, Scottish author (1850-1894) 2017 Victoria Wine List Awards Restaurant in a licensed venue wine list Winner INDEX - 1 INDEX PAGE Champagne and Sparkling Whites 2 Riesling 3 Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon 4 Pinot Grigio/Gris/Blanc 5 Australian & New Zealand Chardonnay 6 Premium and Reserve Chardonnay 7 Old World Whites - French, German, Italian Varietals 8 Australian and International Rose & Australian White Varietals 9 Australian & New Zealand Pinot Noir 10 Premium and Reserve Pinot Noir 11 Victorian and NSW Shiraz 12 South Australia & Western Australia Shiraz 13 Premium & Reserve Shiraz 14 Cabernet Sauvignon 15 Premium & Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 16 Merlot & Cabernet Blends 17 Shiraz Blends 18 Wines from France - Cote du Rhone, Bordeaux, Burgundy et al 19 New & Old World Red Varietals 20 Stickies, Topaque & Fortifed Wines 21 Spirits 22 Beers & Ciders 26 Cocktails 27 CHAMPAGNE AND SPARKLING - 2 AND SPARKLING CHAMPAGNE CHAMPAGNE NV BOTTLE NV G.H. • History Timeline
Archive Fact Sheet: Guinness History Timeline 1759 Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000 year lease on a disused brewery at St. James’s Gate, Dublin for an annual rent of £45. 1769 The first export shipment of six and a half barrels of GUINNESS® left Dublin on a sailing vessel bound for England. 1775 On 16th May 1775 a Dublin Corporation committee & sheriff were sent to cut off and fill in the water course from which the Brewery drew its free water supplies. Arthur defended his water by threatening the party with a pickaxe. The water dispute was finally settled with Dublin Corporation in 1784 after 20 years. 1799 Last ale brewed - decision made to concentrate solely on porter. 1801 West India Porter brewed. Precursor of modern day GUINNESS® Foreign Extra Stout. 1803 Arthur Guinness died and his son, Arthur Guinness II, took over the Brewery. 1815 GUINNESS® was well known on the Continent – reputedly aided the recovery of a cavalry officer wounded at Battle of Waterloo. 1821 Arthur Guinness II set down precise instructions for brewing GUINNESS® Extra Superior Porter – the precursor of today’s GUINNESS® Original. 1824 GUINNESS® well known worldwide. Advertisement in Dublin newspaper for “Guinness’s East & West India Porter”. 1833 Brewery survived post-war recession to become the largest brewery in Ireland and the largest employer of coopers. 1850s Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness, son of Arthur Guinness II, took over the Brewery on the death of his father. Sir Benjamin Lee became a Member of Parliament for Dublin City and also served as Lord Mayor of Dublin.

  • RCHS Chronology of Modern Transport in the British Isles 1945
RCHS Chronology of Modern Transport in the British Isles 1945–2015 Introduction This chronology is intended to set out some of the more significant events in the recent history of transport and communication, with particular reference to public transport, in the British Isles since the end of 1944. It cannot hope to cover the closure or opening of every branch railway or canal, the sale of every bus company, nor the coming and going of every pertinent office holder. The hope is that it does contain details of the principal legislative and organisational changes affecting transport – in particular the shifts between private and public ownership which have characterised the industry within this period – together with some notable ‘firsts’, ‘lasts’ and other significant events, especially those which exhibit trends. A very few overseas events are included (in italics), either because they had a British relationship, or for comparative purposes. Conventions Dates are, where appropriate, the first or last occasion on which an ordinary member of the public could make full use of the facility: official and partial openings on different dates are in general confined to parentheses; and ‘closed with effect from’ (wef) dates are quoted only where the actual last day of service has not been certainly established. Dates assigned to statutes are those of assent unless stated otherwise. ‘First’, ‘last’ or similar qualifiers mean ‘in Britain’ unless otherwise indicated. ‘Commercial’ is used, rather loosely, as a qualifier to exclude experimental, enthusiast, heritage, leisure or similar operations. Forms of name are those in use at the date of the event.
