As at 31st March 2020, ENBD REIT's Net Asset Value ("NAV") was USD 230 million or USD 0.92 per share (decreasing by 10.7% on the previous year), and the total value of its property portfolio was USD 410 million (decreasing by 8.9% on the previous year). ENBD REIT’s Loan-to-Value ("LTV") ratio stood at 44.2%. Downward pressure on valuations was driven by prevailing soft real estate market conditions, that were compounded by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which had a negative valuation effect of approximately USD 19.1 million in the last quarter of the financial year ending 31st March 2020. -

Before the Emirates: an Archaeological and Historical Account of Developments in the Region c. 5000 BC to 676 AD D.T. Potts Introduction In a little more than 40 years the territory of the former Trucial States and modern United Arab Emirates (UAE) has gone from being a blank on the archaeological map of Western Asia to being one of the most intensively studied regions in the entire area. The present chapter seeks to synthesize the data currently available which shed light on the lifestyles, industries and foreign relations of the earliest inhabitants of the UAE. Climate and Environment Within the confines of a relatively narrow area, the UAE straddles five different topographic zones. Moving from west to east, these are (1) the sandy Gulf coast and its intermittent sabkha; (2) the desert foreland; (3) the gravel plains of the interior; (4) the Hajar mountain range; and (5) the eastern mountain piedmont and coastal plain which represents the northern extension of the Batinah of Oman. Each of these zones is characterized by a wide range of exploitable natural resources (Table 1) capable of sustaining human groups practising a variety of different subsistence strategies, such as hunting, horticulture, agriculture and pastoralism. Tables 2–6 summarize the chronological distribution of those terrestrial faunal, avifaunal, floral, marine, and molluscan species which we know to have been exploited in antiquity, based on the study of faunal and botanical remains from excavated archaeological sites in the UAE. Unfortunately, at the time of writing the number of sites from which the inventories of faunal and botanical remains have been published remains minimal. -

At the time of the U.A.E.’s founding in 1971, the country had just seven hospitals and 12 health centers. As of 2015, according to the latest figures from the U.A.E. statistics authority, the U.A.E. had 126 public and private hospitals with a combined capacity of over 12,000 beds.1 U.S. companies and citizens have played an important role in this growth story, as best symbolized by the Oasis Hospital in Al Ain. In 1960, U.S. missionaries Drs. Pat and Marian Kennedy built this hospital – the U.A.E.’s first – in a mud-block guesthouse donated by the late U.A.E. President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.2 Over the next 50 years, this hospital birthed more than 90,000 babies, including members of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family.3 Moreover, it retained strong connections with that family, which funded the hospital’s expansion earlier this decade.4 As the U.A.E. -

The flag adopted to represent this alliance was a red-white-red horizontal triband with a seven pointed gold star. Between 1825 and 1952 Dubai, Kalba and Fujairah also joined the alliance The United Arab Emirates was founded in 1971 when seven of the emirates of the previous Trucial States joined together to create a single independent country. The Pan-Arab green, red, white and black colours were used for the flag which is a green-white-black horizontal tricolour with a vertical red band on the right. The government and private schools raise the flag and play the national anthem every morning.
