PA RIS LO NG CH AM P - 1St Sep Tem Ber PA RIS LO NG CH AM P - 1st Sep tem ber Trainer of the day : André Fabre (102, 103, 203, 407, 402, 506) Jockey of the day : Vincent Cheminaud (102, 308, 402, 808) Horse of the day : In Front (301) Dark Horse : Soudania (408) Race 1 1. MOONLIGHT SPIRIT - Charlie Appleby has a fantastic record in this country. He sends this triple winner over. Third in Group Three here in May and fourth last time at Ascot 2. IN FAVOUR - This dual winner from the Fabre camp improved for the step up in distance in a Listed contest at Deauville last time and more to come here perhaps 3. HOMER - Andre Fabre is responsible for this Sea The Stars gelding who has won his last two at Clairefontaine so very progressive and every chance for hat trick 4. THINK OF ME - Won on sole start at Clairefontaine at the start of last month. Impressive there and will improve 5. SALMANA - Has won two of her seven outings including two goes back at Deauville. Supplemented for this but a big ask 6. NIGHT DEL RAIS - Only the one success from seventeen tries and basically looks outclassed here today Summary There might be a small field for this stamina sapping Group Three event but it is a select one. Andre Fabre could be having a good day already and may make it even sweeter here with his dual representatives having every chance. (2) IN FAVOUR and (3) HOMER can fight it out with marginal preference for the former. (1) MOONLIGHT SPIRIT and (4) THINK OF ME will be bang there too. Selections (2) IN FAVOUR - (3) HOMER - (1) MOONLIGHT SPIRIT - (4) THINK OF ME Race 2 1. ADABEYAAT - By Oasis Dream out of a Barathea mare. Dam was very classy group performer and her first foal has been successful by Frankel 2. AQUITAINE - By Australia out of a Gold Away mare. Dam was useful black type animal and her first foal has already won 3. MILLE FOIS MERCI - By Galileo out of a Invincible Spirit mare. Dam was lightly raced and very classy Group winner. This is her first foal to race 4. LAYLA - By Lope De Vega out of a Lawman mare. Dam was a winner in Britain and this is her first foal 5. GLENGOWAN - By Kingman out of a Galileo mare. Dam was well bred decent winner and this is her first foal 6. SILVER CRISTAL - By The Factor out of a Darshaan mare. Dam was classy Group two winner and has bred Battle Of Marathon as her first foal 7. TWELVE BROS - By Anjaal out of a Thousand Words mare. Dam was maiden in Britain but has bred all three foals to win and two are black type 8. ALLUCINATION - By Lope De Vega out of a Green Desert mare. Dam was a dual winner and three of her five foals have also won including Sasparella 9. SOLSTICIA - By Le Havre out of a Galileo mare. Dam was a decent winner and this is her first foal Summary A newcomers event for two year old fillies and there are some excellent pedigree's on show. It is a case of one after another with several of the dams having won or placed at Group level and in the highest grade. Jean-Claude Rouget is sure to have (1) ADABEYAAT well schooled for this and it will be no surprise if the daughter of Oasis Dream is sharp. (3) MILLE FOIS MERCI and (8) ALLUCINATION very much catch the eye too. Give a second look to (6) SILVER CRISTAL also. Selections (1) ADABEYAAT - (3) MILLE FOIS MERCI - (8) ALLUCINATION - (6) SILVER CRISTAL Race 3 1. IN FRONT - Useful sort by Intello. Four time winner from thirteen runs. Having a very good season and back to potentially best distance here today it looks like 2. CHECKPOINT CHARLIE - Incredibly consistent animal having been only out of the frame three times from twenty three outing. Thrice victorious and close third last time. Chance 3. MORE THAN THIS - A seven time winner from forty five outings. Did it well over course and distance on penultimate run in May. Seventh at Chateaubriant last time out 4. ARUSHA - A dual winner from twenty one outings. Last of those came at Compiegne in March. Unplaced in four subsequent runs and may need help from the assessor 5. LOUIS - Very nice German bred by the stayer Jukebox Jury. A three time winner from sixteen and it can be argued that he should have had more. Just lacks speed 6. MADE TO LEAD - Has collected four times from nineteen. Won a claimer over this course and distance two starts back and runner up in claimer at Clairefontaine since 7. TENNESSEE SONG - Both victories from fifteen runs came in a row at Chantilly during April and June. Placed in last two at Clairefontaine and Chateaubriant. Noted now 8. GAROPABA - She is a good sort winning four of her sixteen runs. Tried at Listed level. Light campaign this season. Back to form third at La Teste Buch last time 9. BREATH OF FIRE - Only the ten runs. Won on debut here last June. Back to form on last three outings with a win second and third. Just denied at Clairefontaine last time 10. GODERVILLE - A dual winner from twenty two outings. Just the three starts this season. Runner up on the first of those. Sixth at Chateaubriant last time out. Noted 11. GALDAN - A two time winner from twenty outings. Only three runs this year and a much better runner up at Compiegne last time out. Can have a big say here now 12. FURIOUS DES AIGLES - Last of seven victories from sixty runs came at Chantilly in March. Out of form until a fourth at Deauville in a minor event last time. Work to do now 13. SPIRIT'S REVENCH - Eight time winner from seventy six events. Gained the last of those at Compiegne in June. Third in Class One handicap last time at Deauville. Big chance 14. PARIS PARIS - Gained victory number two from twenty one at La Teste Buch two runs back in July. Seventh last time out at Clairefontaine. High enough in weights now 15. DUBAI EMPIRE - One victory from ten starts in Britain. Winless so far from eight runs in this country. Placed in four of those including runner up at Chantilly latest 16. COMBAT DES TRENTE - Former five time winner from forty seven. Last of those was at Deauville in December. Form not really there at the moment and difficult to fancy here Summary The big Quinte betting race of the day and it is for four year old's and up over the middle distance of a mile and a half. (1) IN FRONT is the clear top weight and deservedly so. This intermediate trip should be much more to his liking after going over too short a trip last time. He really does look to have an excellent chance. (5) LOUIS is a likeable type and will be hoping for a big pace to aim at. (8) GAROPABA could rock up at a price. (2) CHECKPOINT CHARLIE looks almost guaranteed to be placed again. (13) SPIRIT'S REVENCH is also a player. Selections (1) IN FRONT - (5) LOUIS - (8) GAROPABA - (2) CHECKPOINT CHARLIE - (13) SPIRIT'S REVENCH - (7) TENNESSEE SONG - (12) FURIOUS DES AIGLES Race 4 1. SAND SHARE - Ralph Beckett sends over this Juddmonte filly who is Group Two placed. Runner up in a Listed at Salisbury last time 2. ALL GRACE - Just prevailed in newcomers event at Maisons Laffitte in June before respectable fifth in Group Three at Deauville in July 3. SWEET PROMISE - James Fanshawe send this one across the pond having won two of her three runs and impressively so on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton last time 4. QUEEN - Very lightly campaigned. Placed on first three runs before running out a winner at La Teste Buch last month. Improving sort 5. BLISSFUL BEAUTY - Placed in two of four starts in Britain. Won at Chateaubriant in May and placed in four more in this country 6. GLANCE - Beckett also sends this raider from Britain and she is a fair sort. A winner and Listed and Group placed plus a good second last time out at York 7. ROMANCIERE - Won on debut here last September. Placed three times at Group Three level since including last time out at Deauville 8. SOUDANIA - Just the three starts and after a second on debut at Fontainebleau in May has delivered twice at Chantilly and Deauville. Rapid Improver now Summary This is a splendid Listed contest for the three year old fillies. Many of them are on the upgrade and could end up at the highest level. One such example is the Freddy Head inmate, (8) SOUDANIA. She has only raced the three times but is now on a hat trick. All ground and distances seem to come alike to her already and her trainer is a master with such sorts. (7) ROMANCIERE is a big candidate and will take beating. (6) GLANCE and (2) ALL GRACE are respected. Selections (8) SOUDANIA - (7) ROMANCIERE - (6) GLANCE - (2) ALL GRACE Race 5 1. MUSICAL MAST - By Mizzen Mast out of a Seattle Slew mare. Dam was high class Group One winner and has bred two winners from five foals of which one was useful 2. MKFANCY - By Makfi out of a Muhtathir mare. Dam was a winner and her first foal has also won twice 3. LAUENEN - By Canford Cliffs out of an Iffraaj mare.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2019 PERFECT ALIBI IF ARLINGTON CLOSES, WHAT HAPPENS TO CHICAGO RACING? UNASSAILABLE IN The Week in Review, T.D. Thornton Anger and betrayal were the prevalent responses from the SPINAWAY WIN Illinois Thoroughbred community in the wake of last week=s stunning announcement by Churchill Downs, Inc., (CDI) that the corporation intentionally missed a racino application deadline and will not seek slots and table games at Arlington International Racecourse after 12 years of teaming with horsemen to finally get the Illinois Gaming Act passed in June. A chief reason cited by CDI in its Aug. 28 press release was the cost burden of having to contribute gaming revenues to purses. CDI=s shocker generated no shortage of accusations that the corporation simply cannot be trusted to put its stewardship of the sport on par with its quest for bottom-line gaming profits. QATAR PRIX JEAN-LUC LAGARDÈRE (GRAND CRITÉRIUM) SPONSORED BY MANATEQ Group 1 - 2yo – 1m - 400.000 € Victor Ludorum scores the first point for France Travelling at the head of the pack, ridden by Lanfranco Dettori, Alson (Areion) gave every impression of victory, leading the race at a slow pace, which could have thrown off some of his challengers. However, the French Victor Ludorum (Shamardal) and race favourite, showed his true colours travelling midfield by overcoming his opponent in a suspenseful finish, closing the gap metre by metre. He imposed himself more than the gap suggests at the end of the race. The Irish Armory (Galileo) finished third after bravely battling with Alson from the outside. Always on Alson’s inside, Ecrivain (Lope de Vega) came fourth along the rail, without taking advantage of the ground which opened up in the straight to gain on Alson. The regrets will be reserved for Helter Skelter (Wootton Bassett), who pulled hard finishing last: he would have made a beautiful run in the final straight, but too late. It’s Mickaël Barzalona’s second win in the « Lagardère », after Ultra in 2015. The fifth for André Fabre, after Ultra (2015), Loup Solitaire (1995), Goldmark (1994) and Jade Robbery (1989). And the third for Godolphin, after Royal Marine (2018), Ultra (2015) et Rio de la Plata (2007)… to which we can add the victory of cheikh Mohamed al Maktoum with Goldmark (1994) and that of Cheikh Hamdan al Maktoum with Naaqoos (2008). The reactions Mickaël Barzalona (jockey of Victor Ludorum, 1st) “This one can really move (laughs).

Demonstrating her worth in this league when runner-up to Tropbeau (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) in the G3 Prix de la Grotte at ParisLongchamp last time May 11, Dream and Do and Maxime Guyon were on the front foot from the outset in this Classic gifted a perfect slot behind the pace-setter Marieta (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}). Guyon waited until the furlong pole was close at hand to commit the 8-1 shot and that decision probably made the difference between glory and agonising defeat with the 18-1 chance Speak of the Devil lunging late. • Chantilly – Sunday 5 July British Raider Mishriff Wins the Prix Du Jockey Club
CHANTILLY – SUNDAY 5 JULY BRITISH RAIDER MISHRIFF WINS THE PRIX DU JOCKEY CLUB The British-trained and bred colt Mishriff landed the Prix du Jockey Club 2020 run at Chantilly on Sunday. He was ridden by Ioritz Mendizabal, who hails from the Basque region of France, and who won this race in 2008 with Vision d’Etat. Throughout the race Mishriff stayed up near the pace. Caught slightly flat-footed when his rivals kicked for home, Prince Faisal’s homebred colt quickly found his stride and flew home to overtake the leader, The Summit, who came here off a second place on the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Poulains last time out. The hot favourite in the race, Victor Ludorum, found himself at the back of the field throughout the race. He made up an incredible amount of ground in the straight to come and challenge the leaders, finishing an honorable third. Dawn Intello was the surprise of the race, defying his outsider status to finish fourth. Mishriff carries the colours of Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who bred the colt at his British base of Nawara Stud. These colours were previously carried to Classic Glory by Make Believe, the sire of Mishriff, in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains in 2015 under Olivier Peslier. Other great horses to run in the colours of Prince Faisal, are Rafha, winner of the Prix de Diane in 1990, and the great sprinter Invincible Spirit, now a leading sire. This was a first Jockey Club success for trainer John Gosden (who also trains Enable).
