Usta Competitive Pathway Merit-Based Wild Cards – 2020 As of 3/5/20 USTA COMPETITIVE PATHWAY MERIT-BASED WILD CARDS – 2020 The USTA Competitive Pathway Merit-Based Wild Card System was created to enhance and accelerate player progression using earned advancement opportunities and merit-based wild card linkages from the juniors, collegiate and National Open event pathways; into professional tennis. This helps parents, coaches and players to optimize their competitive and training schedules and creates greater transparency and more efficient communication. Please refer to the USTA Competitive Pathway Merit-Based Wild Cards document regarding procedures, criteria and linkages and note that specific wild cards are linked to designated events. The following USTA wild card allocations are merit-based for 2020 select USTA National Championships, Men’s & Women’s Open Championships, Competitive Pathway linkages, National Standings List Incentives and are subject to change as per USTA Player Development. Individual tournaments Directors also have local wild cards for their respective events. After the completion of each event, every player who earns a wild card(s) must send an email to [email protected] with their tournament preference(s) within 3 days. USTAPD will respond to this email & confirm the earned wild card(s). USTAPD will make every effort to grant a player's first preference, but it is not guaranteed. Once the earned wild card(s) is communicated to the player, the player is still required to complete the Wild Card Request Form by clicking here. Once a player is awarded a merit-based wild card and if they gain direct entry (for applicable draw) afterwards, the merit-based wild card will still count as being used. Please be aware that due to the time of the year, some designated events are listed in 2021 based on the 2020 Competitive Pathway Calendar. These events are subject to change based on the final 2021 Competitive Pathway Calendar released in the 4th quarter of 2020. USTAPD will determine the designation of these earned wild cards. If a player has earned a wild card through the “USTA COMPETITIVE PATHWAY WILD CARD LINKAGE” or “USTA 18’s NATIONAL STANDINGS LIST INCENTIVES”, they must email [email protected] within 3 days to arrange. These earned wild cards must be used within nine months of being earned. Players who earn a merit-based wild card into one of the below mentioned ITF Junior events must submit an email to [email protected] within one week to arrange and/or confirm. If the USTA or USTAPD finds that wild cards are being sold or bartered, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. All tournaments & tournament dates listed below are subject to change & USTAPD has final say in all wild card decisions. CRITERIA In order for a player to be eligible to accept a USTA issued wild card, the player must meet the following eligibility criteria: ● Eligibility – A player must meet the eligibility requirements to represent the United States in Fed Cup, Davis Cup, Junior Fed Cup, Junior Davis Cup or ITF World Junior Tennis Competition.
