FIDLER- INTRODUCTION The 1998 Major League Baseball (MLB) season was filled with many memorable moments and achievements. While not as obvious as the historic home run duel between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, the 1998 MLB season reflected the growing prominence of foreign baseball players in the League. This prominence appears not only in the performances of foreign superstars such as Sammy Sosa' and Bernie Williams2 but also in overall number of foreign players now on MLB rosters.
