Baxter, PhD Date Department of Biological Sciences iv Abstract of THE INFLUENCE OF PARENTAL CARE BEHAVIOR BY CONVICT CICHLIDS ON THE INCIDENCE OF OOMYCETE INFECTION OF THEIR EGGS by Lesley Lynne Keiko Hamamoto Infection of fish eggs by oomycete watermolds has been documented among numerous fish species occupying diverse aquatic habitats. In fact, watermolds are considered to be ubiquitous in freshwater systems and it seems that all species of fish eggs are susceptible to infection. Oomycete infection can result in the loss of large numbers of viable eggs because it can quickly spread from one infected egg to many others.

Volume 1, List Of Titles Permalink https://escholarship.org/uc/item/4p54w451 Author Hoyt, Robert D Publication Date 2002-11-01 eScholarship.org Powered by the California Digital Library University of California A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE EARLY LIFE HISTORY OF FISHES. VOLUME 1, LIST OF TITLES Compiled, edited, and published (1988, copyright) by Robert D. Hoyt Department of Biology, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Kentucky 42101 Updated November 2002 by Tom Kennedy Aquatic Biology, University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35487-0206 and Darrel E. Snyder Larval Fish laboratory, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado 80523-1474 Dr. Hoyt granted the American Fisheries Society Early Life History Section permission to prepare, update, and distribute his 13,717-record bibliography (comprehensive for literature through 1987, but out-of-print) as a personal computer file or searchable resource on the Internet so long as the file is made available to all interested parties and neither it nor printed versions of it are sold for profit. Because of computer search capabilities, it was deemed unnecessary to provide a computer text version of Dr. Hoyt's subject, scientific name, common name, family name, and location indices (Volume II). As chairman of the Section's bibliography committee, I prepared and partially edited version 1.0 of this file from Dr. Hoyt's original VAX computer tapes and made it available in 1994 for download and use as a searchable resource on the internet. Dr. Julian Humphries (then at Cornell University) and Peter Brueggeman (Scripps Institution of Oceanography Library) prepared and posted the gopher- searchable and web-searchable versions, respectively.

The University of Southern Mississippi PATTERNS OF DIVERSITY, ZOOGEOGRAPHY, AND ECOLOGICAL GRADIENTS IN HONDURAN FRESHWATER FISHES by Wilfredo Antonio Matamoros Abstract of a Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate School of The University of Southern Mississippi in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy August 2010 ABSTRACT PATTERNS OF DIVERSITY, ZOOGEOGRAPHY, AND ECOLOGICAL GRADIENTS IN HONDURAN FRESHWATER FISHES by Wilfredo Antonio Matamoros August 2010 Nineteen major river drainages across Honduras were sampled from 2005-2009 in order to understand Honduran geographical patterns of freshwater fish distribution, to delineate the Honduran freshwater fishes ichthyographical provinces, and to understand patterns of species assemblage at the drainage level. A total of 166 species of freshwater fishes were sampled, a 64% increase over previously published reports. Eight species belong to primary freshwater families, 47 to secondary, and 111 to peripherals. In order to understand the species-drainages relationships, a presence-absence matrix was built for the 19 major drainages and 55 primary and secondary freshwater fishes.
