    STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 1999 No. 2469 LOCAL GOVERNMENT, ENGLAND The District of North Devon (Electoral Changes) Order 1999 Made ---- 6th September 1999 Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2) Whereas the Local Government Commission for England, acting pursuant to section 15(4) of the Local Government Act 1992(a), has submitted to the Secretary of State a report dated January 1999 on its review of the district of North Devon together with its recommendations: And whereas the Secretary of State has decided to give effect, with one modification, to those recommendations: Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 17(b) and 26 of the Local Government Act 1992, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: Citation, commencement and interpretation 1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the District of North Devon (Electoral Changes) Order 1999. (2) This Order shall come into force– (a) for the purpose of all proceedings preliminary or relating to any election to be held on 1st May 2003, on 10th October 2002; (b) for all other purposes, on 1st May 2003. Public buses run from Barnstaple to Braunton (Route 21 to Ilfracombe). There are numerous car parks in Braunton, and this walk starts from the Caen Street Car Park in the centre of the village (grid ref: SS 487 366). Other car parks can be found at Velator Quay (grid ref: SS 484 354) and at Broadsands (grid ref: SS 467 327). Photo: Paul Berry Key Geography: One of only three examples of an open field farm system left in England, Braunton Burrows UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, marshland reclamation scheme, Crow Point spit, theTaw estuary, river management at Velator. Description: This seven-mile walk over flat relief gives a taste of three imposing landscape features next to the village of Braunton in north Devon. These are: Braunton Marsh, an area of wet pasture reclaimed in the 19th century, Braunton Burrows, one of England's largest areas of sand dunes and the Braunton Great Field, one of only three such examples of open field farming in England surviving from the medieval period. The walk starts at the Caen Street Car Park in the centre of Braunton (grid ref: SS 487 366). Leave the car park entrance and turn left, almost immediately crossing the river Caen. Turn left into Caen Field immediately after the river, and continue to the stone bridge. The River Caen has Its source to the north of village, and was Braunton’s important link to the sea in the early days.

We are a United Benefice in the Exeter Diocese, formed of one large and two small village communities along the Taw and Torridge estuary, located between the towns of Barnstaple and Bideford. Following early retirement due to ill-health, we are looking to appoint a new Incumbent. Christine Lawrence, Debbie Dennis (Village Agent) Apologies: Sue Westbury 1. Minutes of last meeting were agreed without amendment. 2. There were no declarations of interest. 3. Matters arising: 3.1 The appeal relating to the solar panels at Aller Farm has been dismissed. 3.2 It was agreed to add the defibrillator to the Parish Council insurance at a premium of £25 per annum. Proposed by Andrew and seconded by David. 3.3 Publicity for the defibrillator appeared in WS Free Press on 26th Feb, thanks to Sue. Ross has distributed information to all the villagers on the recommended procedure if it needs to be used. 3.4 Mervyn requested his mobile no. be added to the contacts list on website. 3.5 No further Code of Conduct training courses are planned by WSC in the near future. 3.6 Kate reported that the coffee mornings at the pub were no longer taking place as the result of minimal attendance. 3.7 The next Deer Management Group (DMG) meeting is in April, so there is nothing to report. 4. Loneliness and Well-Being. Various options for using the SCC £500 grant were discussed and discounted. These options included funding for a stroke rehabilitation club, a subsidy for the Valley Luncheon Club and an additional handrail on the slope down to the EMN Hall.
