First In the Woods all: I really don't like polish tv series, they're dull, with horrible acting and every actor speaks like having lockjaw, so when I turned "The Woods" I was very cautious and expected turning tv in circa 10 minutes. Well, turned out I watched four episodes at one go and today I finished last two. I loved locations and cinematography, acting is very good, also music is quite good. It was silly and over the top and took me right out of the story. I kept reading because I was way to invested at that point and was expecting for the original mystery to be solved, but that was not to be. Adding insult to injury, the author had the gall to do the little "haha, I got you" about the murderer. I guess she felt really smug that she had pulled the wool over our eyes, except that I, and most everyone else, knew that it was Rosalind a long time ago. Rob Adam Ryan is an asshole, plain and simple. I know that lots of detectives esp. I wanted to take a baseball bat to his head. To make matters worse, French throws in this little gem towards the end of the novel: "I am intensely aware, by the way, that this story does not show me in a particularly flattering light. I am aware that, In the Woods an impressively short time of meeting me, Rosalind had me coming to heel like a well-trained In the Woods running up and down stairs to bring her coffee, nodding along while she bitched about my partner, imagining In the Woods some starstruck teenager that she was a kindred soul. Truth be told, In the Woods didn't annoy me as much as the fact that the true "villain" of the modern In the Woods walks without being punished in any way. In the Woods incredibly unsatisfying. I know this was a first novel, so hopefully things will improve for her second book. I know, also, that this book won a major award and that lots of people seem to love it to death, so maybe I In the Woods know what I'm talking about. In the book, there's a quote from the narrator supposedly based on some thoughts from Arthur Conan Doyle talking about how a mystery must have a conclusion lest the audience be left unhappy and upset: "Can you write a mystery story that In the Woods with uncertainty? Where you never know who really did it? There needs to be something at the end, some sort of resolution. Not knowing is the worst outcome for In the Woods mystery story, because we need to believe that everything in the world is knowable. Justice is optional, but answers, at least, are mandatory. Watch the play from the In the Woods before you come see this so you understand what this movie is about. This adaption has a great cast and great music. The scenery is also In the Woods. If you're looking for something that actually has character you can get behind, than I encourage you to view this film. If you're looking for a singing dog or something This isn't frozen or lion king. Just because Disney is in connection with it doesn't mean it's something you bring your 3 year old to. They would get bored. It's more of an adult thing and has a good view fr each character. It does jump around to characters. But it's In the Woods try and connect In the Woods stories together.
