EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Proposed expansion of jetty for Cargo handling facilities at Mankhurd, Mumbai by M/s. Yogayatan Ports Private Limited M/s. Yogayatan Group is proposing expansion of jetty for Cargo handling facilities at Mankhurd, Mumbai. Earlier, the existing jetty & waterfront at Mankhurd, Mumbai is used by the construction agency M/s. AFCONS during the construction of Thane Creek Railway Bridge (TCRB) during year 1986/ 87. Considering the potential of selected site and vast experience in promoting large infrastructure projects, M/s. Yogayatan Group has very keen interest in developing Cargo handling facilities at the allotted site. The site is located within the city limits of Mumbai and about 10 kms from the commercial center of Mumbai. It is located on Thane Creek, at a distance of 100 meters from Thane Creek Railway Bridge, connecting Mankhurd (Mumbai) and Vashi (Navi Mumbai), at a distance of 10 nautical miles from Jawaharlal Nehru Port. The site is on the west side of the Railway Bridge and is touching the Sion – Panvel highway. It is also next to the railway line connecting Mankhurd to Vashi station. The present proposal is consist of proposed Cargo handling facilities by carryout restorative repairs / upgradation and expansion of existing jetty, construction of approach trestle, construction of main berth and construction of allied activities such as port office building & other utility structure, Internal roads, port users offices, cement terminal, open storage, open spaces, green belt, gate complex. Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) has already granted permission for the proposed activity from CRZ point of view on 2nd February, 2011. Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has granted Consent to Establish on 7th August, 2015 for proposed jetty for Cargo Terminal (for loading & unloading cargo) having cargo handling capacity. In view of the strategic location, many industries as well as port operators have expressed their keen interest in utilizing the said terminal for their cargo handling requirements for commodities such as cement, coal, industrial salt, for load outs of cranes/ offshore structural units, items for supply to offshore rigs on both exclusive as well as non exclusive basis. .
