Catholic Traditions Because building our Faith doesn’t happen by accident.

THE SEVEN DEADLY They are called “deadly” for a reason. Ultimately they result in the eternal death of our eternal souls - eternal in the fires of hell. So, let us ask ourselves a very simple QUESTION: Should we ever celebrate one of the seven deadly sins?!

CCC § 1866: can be classified according to the they oppose, or also be linked to the capital sins which Christian experience has distinguished, following St. and St. Gregory the Great. They are called "capital" because they engender other sins, other vices. They are , avarice, , wrath, , , and .

PRIDE: Pride is undue self-esteem or self-love, which seeks attention and honor and sets one- self in competition with God. When pride is carried to the extent that a person is unwilling to acknowledge dependence on God and refuses to submit his or her will to God or lawful authority, it is a grave . LUST: The inordinate craving for or in sexual pleasure. The evil of lust is reduci- ble to this: that sexual satisfaction is sought for either outside marriage or, at any rate, in a man- ner which is contrary to the laws that govern marital intercourse. Indulging in lust is a , provided of course, it is done in a way that is voluntary in itself and fully deliberate.

CCC § 1867: The catechetical tradition also recalls that there are "sins that cry to heaven": the blood of Abel, the sin of the Sodomites, the cry of the people oppressed in Egypt, the cry of the for- eigner, the widow, and the orphan, injustice to the wage earner.

The world, of course, denies sin. In particular, and in our day, it denies the deadliest of sins, Pride. In fact, it has taken “Pride” and told us to take pride in our sins! “WOE” to the wicked and foul people who intentionally lead others into sin. That is not my opinion, Jesus said it, and in Jesus’s day, that meant “damned.” It still does. “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of things that cause sin! Such things must come, but woe to the one through whom they come!” Mt 18:6-7

This past month, in the U.S. and around the world, there has been a relentless media hype of “pride” this and “pride” that, completely disregarding the fact that these are celebrations of the two of the seven deadly sins: Pride and Lust. As the masters of propaganda taught, tell a big enough often enough, and people will begin to believe it. So it is in the “pride” celebrations. We have quit standing up for God-defined morality. The bottom line - and we have to get this straight - either God defines morality or He does not. If God does define morality, then what He says is True, and Truth does not change. Therefore, all these rainbow flags and all these “pride” celebrations are evil to the core. It really is just that simple. A picture is worth a thousand words, and pictures abound that are not fit to print in the Church’s bulletin. That alone tells us all we need to know. We do not celebrate a deadly sin - Pride. We do not celebrate a deadly sin - Lust. We do not flaunt our sinfulness in the face of others. Do we understand, then, just how malignant is the cancer that has become these “pride” celebrations? Or, do we just let it go as if it does not matter?

“[Jesus said] when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Lk 18:8
