Most of us are in favor of reform, what burns us up is being reformed by someone no better than we are. If we encounter a man of rare intellect, we should ask him what books he has read. Always put off until tomorrow what you shouldn’t do at all. Every man seems to fall into one of two groups. He’s either old and bent, or young and broke. It is a great place to have these meetings, so let’s please have a good turn- out. We’ll debrief the Ceremonial, dis- cuss the upcoming Circus, and have a happy good old time as usual. Ladies, kids, other family members, prospective members, and friends are always wel- come. The December 14th meeting at Kev-Lan in Bangor was a great success. There were 32 Nobles and Ladies in attendance. Mike Lambert won $40 in the 50/50 raffle which he generously donated back to the unit. Also as part of the raffle, Christmas presents were won by Ron Cook, Dennis Ballard, and Bob Glidden. The unit voted to donate $500 to the Sunshine Club and $200 to the Anah Shriners Building Fund. Shriners Hospitals for Children® — Boston Wins National Top Performer Award  BOSTON – Shriners Hospitals for Children® — Boston is proud to announce that Press Ganey Associates, Inc. has named the hospital as a 2011 Summit Award Winner. Press Ganey currently partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities—including 50% of U.S. hospitals—to measure and improve the quality of their care. The company’s databases are the largest in the industry, and allow facilities nationwide to benchmark their results against peer organizations.

The Summit Award recognizes top performing facilities that sustain the highest level of customer satisfaction for three or more consecutive years. The Press Ganey Summit Award is the health care satisfaction industry’s most coveted symbol of achievement bestowed annually, and Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston is one of the nation’s 80 organizations to receive this prestigious honor in 2011.

Robert Draughon, chief executive officer of Press Ganey Associates, Inc., stated, “We are proud to partner with Shriners Hospital for Children as they focus on improving the quality of health care. They are joining a community of over 10,000 health care organizations and 50% of U.S. hospitals who partner with Press Ganey and are committed to continuous quality improvement.”

The Outpatient Department at Shriners Hospitals for Children —Boston exemplifies the mission of the hospital through provision of high quality care by skilled professionals in a safe and caring environment. The dedicated staff of nurses, doctors, nurse practitioners, care coordinators, therapists, child life specialists, medical photographers, and interpreters works closely together to provide consistency in care for all of our patients. The hospital strives for this excellence while also looking forward to continually improve our services. With 5,743 outpatient visits in 2010, and many patients who return to clinic over a period of years, the relationship with patients and families is a valuable asset and one is continually fostered. It has been stated that, “It takes a village to raise a child.” At Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston the Outpatient Department works as a village with a multidisciplinary team working together to provide all the facets of care necessary to promote healing and integration back into society.  Arlene Swan-Mahony, Manager, Outpatient Department and Care Coordination Department states, “We are very proud of the recognition from Press Ganey for our excellence in health care. Receiving this award for the sixth year in a row clearly demonstrates the expertise and commitment from our staff at Shriners Hospital for Children — Boston. As our hospital transitioned into accepting third party pay with implementation of new systems, our staff has continued to hold the child and family as the most important members of the team. This is what makes Shriners Hospital for Children® − Boston the premier hospital for pediatric burn care.”

Our business partners included Jasper’s Restaurant, Webb’s RV, Timberland Acres RV Park, Pat’s Pizza, McKay’s RV, Har- vey’s Campers, Young’s Lobster Pound, and Rollie’s Café.
