Najib Spooked by Defections in Sabah, Says Nurul Izzah Malaysiakini.Com Aug 4, 2012 by Ahmad Fadli KC
Najib spooked by defections in Sabah, says Nurul Izzah MalaysiaKini.com Aug 4, 2012 By Ahmad Fadli KC Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is fearful of more defections by BN parliamentarians in Sabah and the shifting of allegiance to Pakatan Rakyat by two of the ruling coalition's MPs is what has prompted his visit to Sabah next weekend. "Is he afraid? I thought he previously said that all is well within BN," said PKR vice- president and Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar. Najib said yesterday that his visit to Sabah was to strengthen the BN's position in the state. His announcement comes just a week after Tuaran MP Wilfred Bumburing and Beaufort MP Lajim Ukin openly declared support for Pakatan. However, Nurul Izzah is not convinced that Najib's visit would be of any benefit to the Sabah people. "I don't think he has the audacity to make changes," she said. Expand terms of RCI, Najib urged In addition, she said, the announcement of the terms of reference for the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into illegal immigrants in Sabah would not impede the momentum of Pakatan's support in the state. "I hope all party leaders will continue with the agenda of change for Sabah. No matter what incentive Najib offers, we shall not budge from our agenda. "We ourselves have long pledged to form the RCI and give Sabah a 20 percent royalty from oil and gas," she said. Nurul Izzah also urged Najib to expand the RCI's terms of reference to investigate allegations of a citizenship-for-votes scheme being run for foreigners to ensure BN's victory in the coming general election. -

Former Sabah minister confirms Veveonah sat for finals in June Malay Mail Tuesday, 08 Sep 2020 06:52 PM MYT BY YISWAREE PALANSAMY Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said Veveonah Mosibin has been offered a course in marine science at UMS. — Picture by Mukhriz Hazim KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Sabah’s former tourism, culture, and environment minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said he has confirmed with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) that Veveonah Mosibin sat for examinations in June, after two government leaders accused her of lying. Masidi is also the chairman of UMS’s board of directors. On Twitter, Masidi also said Veveonah has been offered a course in marine science at UMS. “After meeting the TNC & Pengarah Pusat Asasi Sains, UMS today, I would like to confirm that student Veveonah Mosibin sat for her final semester exams (online) from 9/6 till 12/6/20. “She was an exemplary student & has been offered to do Marine Science degree course in UMS,” Masidi who is Sabah’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president, wrote. Last week, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin alleged in the Senate that Veveonah did not sit for any university examinations as portrayed in her YouTube video that went viral in June. Although he apologised and retracted his allegation later, he disclosed this week that his information came from Deputy Finance Minister I Abdul Rahim Bakri, who maintained the allegation yesterday. Abdul Rahim, who is the MP for Kudat, purported in a since-removed Facebook post yesterday that he had sent an officer to investigate Veveonah’s case and allegedly found that she did not take any examinations in June and no longer resided in Kampung Sepatalang in rural Sabah. -
