26th ANNUAL ASPEN JR. HOCKEY FALL FACE-OFF RULES CREDENTIALS: All teams and players must be registered with USA Hockey. All Canadian teams must be registered with Hockey Canada. The tournament committee will review credentials prior to the first tournament game, and anytime thereafter. All teams must present: USA Hockey Player Roster (Form 1-T) Approved travel permits if applicable Team contact form (available at check in table) ENTRY FEE & REFUND POLICY: The tournament fees are as follows: $1,600.00 for Squirt A and Squirt B; $1,650 for Pee Wee A and Peewee B; $1,700.00 for Peewee AA, Bantam A and Bantam B; $1,750.00 for Girls 19AA/16AA , Bantam AA and Midget/HS is due upon submission of the tournament application. All teams will be scheduled for a minimum of four games. Tournament entry fees will be promptly refunded to any team not accepted. No refunds will be given after teams have been admitted. There are no spectator fees. SELECTION PROCESS: Due to this being an early season tournament, we cannot select the teams on a first come first serve basis. All selections will be made by a tournament committee and will take into account dates applications are received. Only complete applications and full payment will be considered for acceptance. When a division fills, organizations that request two teams at the same age level and division will be selected on the first application received. Teams are required to play at their USA Hockey registered level unless otherwise approved by the Tournament Director. Please do not call and ask if your team has been selected. Teams will be notified on the designated date. UNIFORM COLORS: The designated “home teams” shall be responsible to wear uniforms that are primarily light in color scheme. The designated “visiting teams” shall be responsible to wear uniforms primarily dark in color. REPORTING TIMES TO ARENAS/LOCKER ROOMS/ICE: All teams must arrive at the designated arena at least 45 minutes prior to game time. Teams are required to leave the locker rooms in excellent condition after games are completed. All teams are responsible for covering their penalty boxes. Teams must be prepared to take the ice up to 15 minutes prior to the published game time. Managers must verify their rosters at the scoring table prior to each game. The tournament will NOT provide warm up pucks. Please bring pucks!! LEVEL OF PLAY: The tournament will offer Midget/HS/18UA/16UAA; Girls 19AA/16AA; Bantam AA, A and B; Pee Wee AA, A and B; Squirt A and B. Schedule for play as follows: October 11 - 13, 2019 Midget/High School, Bantam B and Girls 19AA/16AA October 18– 20, 2019 Bantam A, Pee Wee A and Pee Wee B October 25 – 27, 2019 Bantam AA, Pee Wee AA, Squirt A and Squirt B TOURNAMENT PLAY: USA Hockey rules and age classifications will apply to all play except as noted below: Midget 18UA/High School and Bantam AA games will consist of three (3) periods. Periods 1 and 2 will be 16 minute run time and the third period will be 16 minute stop time. A five (5) goal differential at any time in the third period will result in running time until the lead falls to less than five (5) goals. The time clock will stop for penalties and injuries. Each team will be allowed one-60 second timeout per game. Girls 19AA /16AA games will consist of three (3) periods. Periods 1 and 2 will be 16 minute run time and the third period will be 16 minute stop time. A five (5) goal differential at any time in the third period will result in running time until the lead falls to less than five (5) goals. The time clock will stop for penalties and injuries. Each team will be allowed one-60 second timeout per game. Pee Wee AA games will consist of three (3) periods. Periods 1 and 2 will be 15 minute run time and the third period will be 15 minute stop time. A five (5) goal differential at any time in the third period will result in running time until the lead falls to less than five (5) goals. The time clock will stop for penalties and injuries. Each team will be allowed one-60 second timeout per game. All penalties and injuries will be stop time Bantam A and B games will consist of three (3) periods. Periods 1 and 2 will be 15 minute run time and the third period will be 15 minute stop time. A five (5) goal differential at any time in the third period will result in running time until the lead falls to less than five (5) goals. The time clock will stop for penalties and injuries. Each team will be allowed one-60 second timeout per game. Pee Wee and all Squirt games will consist of three (3) periods. Periods 1 and 2 will be 15 minute run time and the third period will be a 12 minute stop time. A five (5) goal differential at any time in the third period will result in running time until the lead falls to less than five (5) goals. The time clock will stop for penalties and injuries. Each team will be allowed one-60 second timeout per game. All penalties and injuries will be stop time Any player assessed a gross, match, or fighting major penalty, if listed on the official score sheet, will not be allowed to continue in the tournament or at the Tournament Directors discretion. All games unless otherwise noted, have a 60-minute curfew. The score at the end of the third period or the 60-minute curfew, whichever comes first, will be used to determine the outcome of the game. Teams will be awarded points as follows: o 2 points for a win o 1 point for tie o 0 points for a loss 1 point for a shutout (for tie breaker situations only) 1 point for a win of by five goals or more (for tie breaker situations only) Only used when teams are tied to determine Championship or Semi Final games The top seeded team will be the home team. Ties that exist at the conclusion of a round robin or position round play will be broken using the following criteria (in order until the tie is broken): 1. Most points acquired in head to head competition. (If still tied use tie breaker bonus points) 2. Most point’s acquired vs. common opponents. (If still tied use tie breaker bonus points) 3. Least penalty minutes in all games played. 4. Coin toss (We will try to have a rep from each team present. We reserve the right to have tournament staff conduct the coin toss if representation is not possible) There is no reason to run the score up on teams for tiebreaker purposes. Refusal to play any scheduled games will result in a forfeit. Game results will be posted immediately upon completion of games by the Sport Engine scoring system and posted on our website as well as the wall matrix. The Fall Face Off Tournament hosted 90 teams last year over three weekends. We will make every attempt to take all teams that apply. For this reason we may start play each Friday as early as 9:00am and will make every effort to schedule local teams to play the first games on Friday. TOURNAMENT FORMATS 4 AND 5 TEAM DIVISIONS: Pools. Teams will be placed into a single pool. Round Robin. Teams will play each of the other teams. After round robin play is completed, teams will be seeded based upon point standings (and tie-breakers if necessary). Championship Game. The top two seeded teams, after round robin play, will advance to the championship game. 6 and 7 TEAM DIVISION: Pools. Teams will be placed in a single pool. Round Robin. Teams will play four of the other teams within their division. After Round Robin. Teams will play four of the other teams within their division. After round robin play is completed, teams will be seeded within their division based upon point standings (and tie-breakers if necessary). Championship Game. The top two seeded teams after round robin play will advance to the championship game. There will not be a consolation game in a 6-7 team division. 8 and 10 TEAM DIVISION: Pools. Eight teams will be divided into two pools of four teams each. Ten teams will be divided into two pools of five teams each. Round Robin. Teams will play each of the other teams within their division. After the round robin is completed, teams will be seeded within their division based upon point standings (and tie-breakers if necessary). The top two teams from each division will play in the Championship Game. The other three teams will play in consolation games in 8 team bracket. In 10 team bracket the remaining 4 teams will have had their 4 guaranteed games. CONSOLATION GAMES: In divisions that require teams to play consolation games, the tournament will make every attempt to match teams up that have not played one another during the tournament. There is no seeding system used for determining opponents. OVERTIME PROCEDURES: Overtime will only be allowed in Semi-Final and Championship games. If teams are tied after the end of regulation play in Semi-Final or Championship games, teams will not change ends and play a 4 on 4 five minute sudden death overtime period. If teams are still tied after the overtime period, a 5 person shootout will be used.
