The Connecticut Section PGA Junior Golf Committee governs the Junior Golf Association. Both Junior Golf Association (JGA) and Junior Golf TOUR (TOUR) are programs that the Foundation operates and financially underwrites to serve as the leading golf player development initiative in the community. Junior Golf Association members will receive the following: 1. JGA Membership gift (if registered by June 1); 2. JGA Members who have ACTIVATED their membership will be able to enter the 6 Players TOUR tournaments, 5 Development TOUR tournaments, and the PGA Junior 4-Ball at Indian Hill Country Club; 3. Only JGA Members will be eligible to earn points for Junior PGA Player of the Year competitions for boys and girls in the Players TOUR; 4. Player Profile on Connecticut Section PGA website; 5. Complimentary entrance into the Travelers Championship on June 23-28, 2020, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn.; 6. JGA Members' Handbook that includes a comprehensive schedule of junior golf activities, PGA Junior Golf TOUR Regulations, and valuable information; 7. Complimentary membership to the CT Golf Clubs for Schools for free USGA/GHIN member number for USGA Handicap services. INTRODUCTION The Connecticut Section PGA Junior Golf TOUR (TOUR) is comprised of six (6) 18 – hole individual tournaments, three (3) 36 – hole Championships which are ranked by Junior Scoreboard and the PGA Junior Four-Ball, . These junior tournaments are held within the boundaries of the Connecticut Section (including Western Massachusetts and excluding lower Fairfield County). Each TOUR tournament is owned and operated independently but agrees to conduct its tournament within the TOUR Rules and Regulations that are established by Connecticut PGA Section. The TOUR Tournament Director oversees each tournament competition and manages the season-long Player of the Year competitions for the Champions and Players TOURs. PRESENTING SPONSORS SUPPORTING SPONSORS Champions TOUR The Champions TOUR is designed for players in the play to win stage of development. Boys will be playing from yardages of 6500-6900 and girls will be playing from 5500-5900 yards. These will all be 36-hole events that will be ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard and submitted to the AJGA for PBE Star approval. The Junior Golf Committee will reserve the right to reassign a player to the Players TOUR for further development if they fail to meet set guidelines during the season. Below are the guidelines for this TOUR: -Access to this TOUR will rely on GHIN Handicap Index's, past tournament scores, and recommendations from your PGA Professional -Boys should have a GHIN Handicap Index of 10.0 or better (must be able to play yardages 6500-6900) -Girls should have a GHIN Handicap Index of 18.0 or better (must be able to play yardages 5500-5900) -The Junior Golf Committee has the right to deny a player entry into an event based on their Handicap Index, past scores, or recommendation from their PGA Professional -Boys who play on the Champions TOUR and have a round over 100 will be asked to play on the Players TOUR until they can prove themselves ready for the Champions TOUR. Consecutive rounds above 90 will also warrant review by the Junior Golf Committee. -Girls who play on the Champions TOUR and have a round over 110 will be asked to play on the Players TOUR until they can prove themselves ready for the Champions TOUR. Consecutive rounds above 100 will also warrant review by the Junior Golf Committee. -No cards will receive the same treatment as a 90+ score for boys and 100+ score for girls *There is no membership required for the Champions TOUR Players TOUR The Players TOUR is designed for players in the play to compete stage of development. These players will have had prior tournament experience either from the high school level, Junior TOUR, PGA Junior League or other organized golf. These will be 18-hole contests with the boys playing from about 5800-6000 yards and the girls playing from the forward tees. Players will have the opportunity to advance to the Champions TOUR at any point if they meet set criteria. There will be a separate player of the year race for this level. -Players can advance to the Champions TOUR by having two rounds below 80 for boys and 95 for girls. -Players do not have to advance if they don't want to -Players will be required to send in PGA Professional Certification form Development TOUR The Developmental TOUR will be for players ages 8-13 who are in the play to learn stage of development. Players here are looking to take the next step in their development and begin competing in individual stroke play events. These will be 9- hole tournaments. Caddies and spectators will be permitted. There will be separate teeing areas for players 8-10 and 11-13 respectively. Players who wish to graduate to the 18-hole Players TOUR can do so if deemed ready. -It is recommended that players have experience with PGA Jr. League prior to this level of play Champions TOUR events Tue.-Wed.
