Summer Celebration 2011 Supporting Our Local Businesses 2011 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce. Join your friends, neighbors and family at Hoosier Grove Park for the premier event of the summer, and help us celebrate our community – and our business community! Summer Celebration will be held Friday, July 29 – Sunday, July 31. Enjoy a full line up of great music and children’s entertainment. The fun starts Friday, July 29 at 5:00 pm with music, food, games and rides. Saturday, July 30 at 10:30 am our annual parade will step off at Streamwood Blvd. and Bartlett Road. Wal-Mart Grand Re-opening Village President Roth and members of the Board of Trustees were on hand for the grand re-opening of the Wal-Mart Super Center. The 40,000 square foot addition features a full grocery line, deli, Recent Board Actions and expanded garden center. On-line Bill Payment to Begin in Fall The Village Board recently approved an agreement with the Illinois Treasurer’s Office to participate in their e-pay system. Work is underway to syn - chronize the systems to allow residents and busi - nesses to pay water and sewer bills on-line. If the system is a success, the Village will look to expand this process to other payment forms.

If our recent experiences are any indication, the future of Streamwood looks very bright. At all ages and school levels, our students are doing a great job and mak - ing us very proud. We recently finished our May DARE graduations in the elementary schools. Many team members have also received scholarships to college, indicating good balance between athletic and academic success. We are also proud to recognize the artistic talents of our high school students through the annual Village Board Art Purchase Award. This year’s winners are Rosa Aparicio, Katie Craft, Jocelynn Garcia, and Kimberly Keyser . Be sure to take a look at the incredible talent of these and other students on your next trip to Village Hall. Finally, at a recent Village Board meeting, we honored the 2011 DECA and HOSA competition teams. Certificates were presented to students who received top honors in state and international events. Congratulations, Sabres! After a snowy winter, and a cool, wet spring, it is nice to finally welcome sum - mer. Summer traditionally starts with Memorial Day. On behalf of the Village Board, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the members of the Veterans Memorial Commission, including Lisa Poturalski, Eric Cameron, Joe Marino, Everett Parpart, Richard Winterfeld, Kathryn Serbin, Bill Lunsford, Dave Stoves, and Jim Sobeski . Thanks to all of the K-9 units who helped us observe the 10th Anniversary of our War Dog Memorial.
