Fama Fraternitatis, Confessio Fraternitatis e Die Chymische Hochzeit - ou Casamento Alquímico -, são três obras referenciais e seminais que foram valorizadas ao longo de quatro séculos, podendo ser consideradas como uma herança cultural e espiritual da humanidade. O objetivo desta dissertação é fornecer uma base para uma edição crítica dos Manifestos. Além disso, com essa idéia em mente, é o objetivo desta dissertação, descrever o contexto histórico da primeira edição dos Manifestos e esclarecer alguns enigmas históricos. Queremos nesta dissertação ter uma percepção de sua influência na sociedade, no pensamento filosófico, nas artes, nas ciências, mas também nas escolas Rosacruzes, Maçônicas, Teosóficas ou Antroposóficas. Vamos tentar aqui também entender as fontes que deram origem ao pensamento Rosacruz. Mas acima de tudo, queremos entender a proposta rosacruciana do século XVII, em perspectiva com o pensamento contemporâneo. Fama Fraternitatis, Confessio Fraternitatis and Die Chymische Hochzeit – or Alchemical Marriage –, are three referential and seminal works which, by the way they have been valued over four centuries, can be considered as a cultural and a spiritual heritage of humanity. This dissertation’s goal is to provide a basis for a critical edition of the Manifestos. Furthermore, with this idea in mind, it is the purpose of this dissertation, to describe the historical context of the first edition of the Manifestos and to clarify some historical puzzles. We want in this dissertation to have a perception of their influence in society, in philosophical thought, in the arts, in the sciences, but also in later Rosicrucian, Masonic, Theosophical, or Anthroposophical schools. We will try here also to understand the sources that gave rise to the Rosicrucian thought. But above all, we want to understand the Rosicrucian proposal of the 17th century, in perspective with contemporary thinking.   • OTTO RAHN Was Born in Michelstadt, Germany, in 1904
    Crusade Against the Grail is the daring book that popularized the legend of the Cathars and the Holy Grail. The first edition appeared in Germany in 1933 and drew upon Rahn's account of his explorations of the Pyrenean caves where the heretical Cathar sect sought refuge during the thirteenth century. Over the years the book has been translated into many languages and exerted a large influence on such authors as Trevor Ravenscroft and Jean-Michel Angebert, but it has never appeared in English until now. Much as German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann used Homer's Iliad to locate ancient Troy, Rahn believed that Wolfram von Eschenbach's medieval epic Parzival held the keys to the mysteries of the Cathars and the secret location of the Holy Grail. Rahn saw Parzival not as a work of fiction, but as a historical account of the Cathars and the Knights Templar and their guardianship of the Grail, a "stone from the stars." The Crusade that the Vatican led against the Cathars became a war pitting Roma (Rome) against Amor (love), in which the Church triumphed with flame and sword over the pure faith of the Cathars. OTTO RAHN was born in Michelstadt, Germany, in 1904. After earning his degree in philology in 1924, he traveled extensively to the caves and castles of southern France, researching his belief that the Cathars were the last custodians of the Grail. Induced by Himmler to become a member of the SS as a civilian archaeologist and historian, Rahn quickly grew disillusioned with the direction his country was taking and resigned in 1939.

Gnosticism was a dualistic religion, influenced by and influencing Hellenic philosophy, Judaism Gnosticism 2 (see Notzrim), and Christianity;[3] however, by contrast, later strands of the movement, such as the Valentinians, held a monistic world-view.[4] This, along with the varying treatments of the demiurge, may be seen as indicative of the variety of positions held within the category.

    34656_new religions 10/05/2003 11:07 Side 11 CHAPTER 1 Lectorium Rosicrucianum: A Dutch Movement Becomes International Massimo Introvigne Methodology The Lectorium Rosicrucianum (LR), a movement born in the Nether- lands, enjoys today a remarkable international following. There are more than 15,000 pupils and ‘members’ in the world. (The ‘members’ are those awaiting admission as a pupil). More than half are in Europe, but the movement is also well established in countries out- side Europe, including Brazil. In order to study new religious movements (NMR) and those that I suggest be called ‘new magical movements’,1 three methods are normally proposed. First, there is the ‘religionist’ approach, as Dutch scholar Wouter Hanegraaff calls it. It consists in assuming from the outset that a religious or spiritual doctrine is ‘true’ and in examining from this point of view what are the ‘errors’ and ‘deviations’ from the ‘truth’ contained in all other currents and movements.2 The ‘reli- gionist’ approach, applied respectively to the author’s own group, or to others, results in apologetics or heresiology. Second, there is the ‘anti-cult’ approach. It is a secular version of the ‘religionist’ ap- proach. It often claims to be interested in deeds, not in creeds. In fact, however, it compares each movement with the basic values of mod- ernity such as rationality, conceived in a rather positivist manner; 1. See Introvigne 1990. 2.
