Kenneth Smith, Jr., 32° Venerable Master of the Lodge of Perfection CLINIC UPDATE | NEW CONSTRUCTION On Wednesday, July 1st, the Scottish Rite Clinic broke ground for a new state-of-the art building adjacent to its current site at 28 West 2nd Street. The new building will allow Scottish Rite to more than double the number of children and families it can serve, from under 100 to nearly 200 annually. Additionally, it will provide greater visibility for the Scottish Rite and the Valley of Duluth through the signage on the new building. As you will see if you drive by 2nd Street, construction for the new Clinic building is well underway. The offices on the west end of the old Clinic building have been demolished, and excavation for the new site is complete. Forms for the new building are going up, and soon footings with be poured. Contractor Kraus Anderson is moving swiftly with the goal of completing most of the outdoor work on the building before winter. If things proceed as scheduled, the summer 2016 Clinic sessions will be held in the new building! AUGUST HISTORIC MASONIC DATES 01-Aug 1824. FALL FAST CLASS | September 18th & 19th This Fall is your opportunity to share the Scottish Rite experience with a fraternal Brother and offer them an opportunity to grow and bond with Brothers from a broad range of Lodges and perspectives. As a Brother who loves the slow cooked format and soul-searching depth of our traditional class format, I am not one to cheer for reunions or fast classes. Yet, I would have personally had to wait many years to join the University of Masonry if our Valley did not offer one back in the early 2000s. We, your Valley’s leadership, recognize the needs of many Brothers with numerous commitments to family, work, as well as the travel distance to Duluth. To give these Brothers alternative path, we will be offering the following Weekend condensed class this Fall. Please use the included Petition (on the last page) or on our website. Registration starts at Friday 4:30 PM, 4° at 6 PM, 14° at 8 PM Saturday Check-in 7 AM, 18° at 9 AM, 30° at 1 PM, 32° at 3 PM. These Brothers will be glad that you took the time to think of them!
