ABSTTIACT. -- This record is working at the Pyramidellid fauna from the bay of Nha-Trang and vicinity, collected in beach sands or dredged by « Institut oceanographique ». This fauna is very prolific and includes no less than 210 species, among these 55 only could be assimilated to already known species. There are 7 Pyramidellinae, 12 Tiberiinae, 20 Syrnolinae, 2~ Odostomiinae with prevailing subgenus M egastomi.a. 5 Odostomellinae, 63 PyrguJininae with very numerous Pyr gulina and numerous Besla, 5 Menesthinae, 61 Turbonillinae with leading genera Chemnitzia. Pyrgiscus, Pyrgisciila, 3 Cingulininae, and 7 Eulimellinae. The Coen types, now at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, have been examined; most of them are holotypes or lectotypes. Some lectotypes were already selected by van Aartsen, as stated in the label, therefore we have not done any further selection of types. The new pyramidellid species have been practically identified and named by Monterosato, and were all found in shell grit collected on the beach of Lido (a small island in front of Venice). None of the Coen’s new species seems to be valid. KEY WORDS Coen collection; Pyramidellidae; Adriatic Sea; Mediterranean Sea. • Pyramidellidae Turbonilla
Pyramidellidae Subfamily Turbonillinae Genus Turbonilla Species recorded from the SCB By Tony Phillips DCE At the October 2010 SCAMIT meeting it was suggested by Pat LaFollette for us to take high quality, detailed photographs of our Turbonilla, Pyrgiscus and Odostomia species (don’t forget scale bars, locality and depth information!) and share with him and with each other. If it is possible to assign it unequivocally to a described species, he will aid us in giving specimens names…... He also suggested we use Abbott 1974 as a primary resource..... Subgenera of Turbonilla (Oldroyd 1927 & Abbot 1974) • Bartschella Iredale 1917 - valid genus • Chemnitzia d’Orbigny 1840 - Turbonilla • Mormula A. Adams 1863 - valid genus, not in subfamily Turbonillinae • Pyrgiscus Philippi 1841 - valid genus • Pyrgolampros Sacco 1892 - Turbonilla • Strioturbonilla Sacco 1892 – valid genus, not in subfamily Turbonillinae • Turbonilla Risso 1826 – valid genus * WoRMS 2016 for subfamily Turbonillinae Genera listed under subfamily Turbonillinae (according to WoRMS 2016) Asmunda Dall & Bartsch 1904 Kleinella A. Therefore we shall use only the genus name Turbonilla for all the species included….(Penas & Rolan, 2010) ….as most of the turbonillids, the majority of species cannot yet be defensibly seated in an appropriate genus.

J. Brook* A total of 358 species of molluscs (excluding pelagic species) is recorded here from coastal marine habitats around the northern Kermadec Islands. The fauna is dominated by species that are widely distributed in the tropical western and central Pacific Ocean. The majority of these are restricted to the tropics and subtropics, but some range south to temperate latitudes. Sixty-eight species, comprising 19% of the fauna, are thought to be endemic to the Kermadec Islands. That group includes several species that have an in situ fossil record extending back to the Pleistocene.

  • Pyramidellidae: Turbonillinae)
TRITON No 35 March 2017 A NEW SPECIES OF TURBONILLA (RISSO, 1826) FROM SE TURKEY (PYRAMIDELLIDAE: TURBONILLINAE) Panayotis Ovalis1 & Constantine Mifsud2 Summary: A new species, Turbonilla cangeyrani nov. sp., is described from Tasucu, SE Turkey. Keywords: Mollusca, Gastropoda, Pyramidellidae, Turbonilla, Tasucu, SE Turkey, Eastern Mediterranean. Introduction: The genus Turbonilla is represented in the European seas with about fifty species, while those recorded from the Mediterranean Sea include about thirty of these species. A few of the West African species have recently been discovered as also present in the western Mediterranean. The genus is characterised by a tall shell with axial ribs, sometimes with spiral sculpture, an intorted type of protoconch, mostly of type A (Aartsen 1981), and the lack of a columellar tooth or fold. Most of the species are white but a few possess a particular colouration. Recently a few European species, which in the past had been placed in the genus Turbonilla, have now been assigned to other genera on the basis of particular characters of the shell. During a dive at Tasucu, SE Turkey the first author collected a sample of bioclastic detritus from a depth of 8 metres. During the sorting out of the detritus, twenty-six specimens of a Turbonilla sp. were set aside for further examination. From their particular sculpture they were different from any of the known Mediterranean, the West African and Indo-Pacific species, and is described herein as new to science. Systematics Superfamily: Pyramidelloidea Gray, 1840 Family: Pyramidellidae Gray, 1840 Subfamily: Turbonillinae Bronn, 1849 Genus: Turbonilla Risso, 1826 Turbonilla cangeyrani nov.
