A student meeting to consider the budget is probably a good thing in that it willinvolve even more students in thegoverning of the society, but the three nebulous “whereas” clauses heading the petition are plainly childish. The main complaint of the petitioners is that there was insufficient communication between the student body and the Students’ Councilconcerning budget proposals. This point demonstrates nothing more than an ignorance of the complex and open procedure involved in the production of the annual budget - complex and open in order to ensure “Chief, Chief, J just got o good news story!! Should we print it or fromt it?” thatthe communication in question occurs. In the first place, the original submissions are made by some 150 students - club presidents, committee chairmen, HOW TO CLEAR THE LIBRARY OF etc. - who are directly involved in AMS expenditures at the lowest administrative level. This meeting was held in the SUB upper lounge on the Tuesday I went over to the library to study some books and found it to be more like evening of October23. This undoubtedly is rank bad Thus these students had five definite opportunities to manners on the part of the people occupying those study place and a nuisance for those activelyparticipate in theconstruction of the budget.
