  • Brisbane Comedy Festival Returns in 2020
MEDIA RELEASE Tuesday 26 November 2019 BRISBANE COMEDY FESTIVAL RETURNS IN 2020 Brisbane Comedy Festival enters its second big decade in 2020, playing in more venues, welcoming more international stars, promoting more local talent and bringing more laughs than ever before. A highlight of the international comedy calendar, Brisbane Comedy Festival 2020 returns for its 11th year with a bumper line-up of 85 acts playing in 14 performance spaces across five Brisbane venues from 21 February to 22 March, 2020. Brisbane Powerhouse is comedy central, hosting performances and gigs across its iconic New Farm space – from its rooftop to its storeroom – with Brisbane City Hall and Newstead Brewing Co again throwing open their doors to entertainers. Joining the fold for the first time are two new Fortitude Valley venues: the old-world charm of The Tivoli and the shiny newness of Fortitude Music Hall. The month-long festival of fun and frivolity begins with the popular Brisbane Comedy Festival Opening Gala, hosted by a soon-to-be-revealed act who will attempt to corral the comedic chaos of more than 9 comedians at Brisbane City Hall on Friday 21 February. The festival again shines the spotlight on top Queensland talent including Mel Buttle, Steph Tisdell, Becky Lucas and Matt Okine; local collectives Act/React, Brisburned and Politics in the Pub; and the dazzling return of a ‘90s icon – Agro with Jamie Dunn. Grin, giggle and guffaw with a slate of national comedy heavyweights such as Dave Hughes, Peter Helliar, Fiona O’Loughlin, Nazeem Hussein, Frank Woodley, Sammy J and the duo we never knew we needed: Paul McDermott and Steven Gates.

  • Film Goes on After Walker's Death Big Names
FRIDAY MARCH 14 2014 ENTERTAINMENT 39 Big names sweating on Lohan’s Project shake-up after lover list LINDSAY Lohan can’t work out what she’s done with her Pickering calls it quits career, so now comes news that she’s written down a list of her very famous ex-lovers, just in case she forgets them, too. In Touch magazine is re- porting that Lohan’s love roll call features the names of high- profile conquests including Heath Ledger, Adam Levine, Zac Efron, Justin Timberlake and Joaquin Phoenix. According to the magazine, Lohan penned the 36-person list during a boozy lunch in Hollywood with a few mates. A source, who claimed to have watched her write the document, said: “They were giggling and talking s**t about people in the industry. “It was her personal con- quest list. She was trying to im- press her friends with the list and then tossed it aside.” Other big names on the list include Colin Farrell, American Horror Story star Evan Peters and her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, and 50 Shades Of Grey star Jamie Dornan. But perhaps most contro- versial is the huge number of the names that have been blanked out for legal reasons. According to an industry in- sider: “The list has some pretty big names on it, and they’re not all single guys. “This getting out now could rock several Hollywood re- lationships to the core.” In 2009, a report claimed Lohan had been seeing Ledger just before his death in 2008 of an accidental drug overdose.

  • Two of Australia's Most Prolific Comedy Talents, Dave Hughes and Ed
Two of Australia’s most prolific comedy talents, Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee first worked together back in 2009 and have an effortless on-air chemistry and union. They have been bolstered by the addition of reporter and presenter, Erin Molan, with the trio delivering Sydney the laughs from 5.30-9am weekdays on 2DayFM and from 6-7pm across the Hit Network. DAVE ‘HUGHESY’ HUGHES Dave Hughes is one of the biggest names in Australian comedy and his easy, laconic style disguises one of the nation’s sharpest comedic minds. His unflinching honesty connects him to audiences from all walks of life, evident through his prolific career across radio, TV and live stand-up comedy. Hughesy’s hugely successful TV shows, The Masked Singer and Hughesy, We Have a Problem make him one of Australia’s most loved national personalities. ED KAVALEE Known for his lightning fast comedy, wry wit and improvisation skills, Ed Kavalee has worked extensively in Australian television and radio for over a decade. Ed is a mainstay of Network Ten’s hugely successful comedy quiz show, Have You Been Paying Attention and has also forged a radio career of his own with roles on both Hit and Triple M, including the seminal Get This with Tony Martin. Russell Crowe remarked that Ed is ‘funny as sh*t’. Gladiatorial high praise indeed. ERIN MOLAN Erin has hosted multiple sports shows for the Nine Network and is the weekend sports presenter on Sydney’s number one news bulletin. Erin earned admiration for her informative and empathic broadcasting on 2GB and 4BC during some of the worst bushfires the nation has experienced in the summer of 2020 and will bring an extra layer of lively to Hughesy and Ed’s already brilliant and established show.
