Two of Australia’s most prolific comedy talents, Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee first worked together back in 2009 and have an effortless on-air chemistry and union. They have been bolstered by the addition of reporter and presenter, Erin Molan, with the trio delivering Sydney the laughs from 5.30-9am weekdays on 2DayFM and from 6-7pm across the Hit Network. DAVE ‘HUGHESY’ HUGHES Dave Hughes is one of the biggest names in Australian comedy and his easy, laconic style disguises one of the nation’s sharpest comedic minds. His unflinching honesty connects him to audiences from all walks of life, evident through his prolific career across radio, TV and live stand-up comedy. Hughesy’s hugely successful TV shows, The Masked Singer and Hughesy, We Have a Problem make him one of Australia’s most loved national personalities. ED KAVALEE Known for his lightning fast comedy, wry wit and improvisation skills, Ed Kavalee has worked extensively in Australian television and radio for over a decade. Ed is a mainstay of Network Ten’s hugely successful comedy quiz show, Have You Been Paying Attention and has also forged a radio career of his own with roles on both Hit and Triple M, including the seminal Get This with Tony Martin. Russell Crowe remarked that Ed is ‘funny as sh*t’. Gladiatorial high praise indeed. ERIN MOLAN Erin has hosted multiple sports shows for the Nine Network and is the weekend sports presenter on Sydney’s number one news bulletin. Tony Martin was born in Te Kuiti, New Zealand, in 1964, and has spent the last thirty-odd years in Melbourne, Australia, writing, producing, directing and performing what his grandmother would have called ‘a lot of nonsense carry-on’. His credits are too numerous, or in some instances, too poor, to list in full, but include The D-Generation, The Late Show, Martin/Molloy and Get This. He is the author of Lolly Scramble, A Nest of Occasionals, Scarcely Relevant and that episode of Upper Middle Bogan where they go to Smorgy’s. You heard it here first.’ Herb was always saying ‘You heard it here first,’ and Gordon, his closest friend and neighbour, was always shaking his head, a response Herb chose to read as agreement. ‘Am I putting the jug on?’ Gordon enquired, as Herb stumbled into the kitchen, disentangling himself from a glaringly inappropriate parka. ‘Mandarin Breakfast?’ he offered, waving some orange packets of tea he’d won at the bowls club. A puff of bluster implied yes, so Gordon filled the kettle and steeled himself for Herb’s findings. ‘I reckon they could be a cell.’ Here we go. ‘A what? ’ ‘I saw this on Current Affair,’ said Herb, lowering his voice for effect.

Finalists announced for 2021 Siren Awards, comedian Dave Hughes to host event 10 May 2021 The Australian radio industry has announced eight creative agencies as finalists for the Gold Siren Award recognising the best radio ad or campaign of 2021. The winner will be announced at the 17th annual Siren Awards in Sydney on June 3, at a live event hosted by comedian and 2DayFM breakfast host Dave Hughes. Making the finalist list this year are: BMF, M&C Saatchi, Showpony Advertising, whiteGREY, Wunderman Thompson, Eardrum, Isobar Australia and Rare. The nominations cover work for a range of clients including ALDI Australia, Tourism Tasmania, Baiada (Lilydale/Steggles), the South Australian Department of Human Services, ING Bank Australia and Project Ningaloo. Joan Warner, the chief executive officer of Commercial Radio Australia, said: “In a year of adversity the nominated finalists have found new and inventive ways to capture attention and encourage people to rethink their behaviours. Their work helped clients to stand out in the market in areas as diverse as retail, food, health, the environment and domestic violence. FRIDAY MARCH 14 2014 ENTERTAINMENT 39 Big names sweating on Lohan’s Project shake-up after lover list LINDSAY Lohan can’t work out what she’s done with her Pickering calls it quits career, so now comes news that she’s written down a list of her very famous ex-lovers, just in case she forgets them, too. In Touch magazine is re- porting that Lohan’s love roll call features the names of high- profile conquests including Heath Ledger, Adam Levine, Zac Efron, Justin Timberlake and Joaquin Phoenix. According to the magazine, Lohan penned the 36-person list during a boozy lunch in Hollywood with a few mates. A source, who claimed to have watched her write the document, said: “They were giggling and talking s**t about people in the industry. “It was her personal con- quest list. She was trying to im- press her friends with the list and then tossed it aside.” Other big names on the list include Colin Farrell, American Horror Story star Evan Peters and her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, and 50 Shades Of Grey star Jamie Dornan. But perhaps most contro- versial is the huge number of the names that have been blanked out for legal reasons.
