There are many shops in this town within walking distance . one of the stores we like to visit is Heini’s Cheese Chalet . it is a store with many different kinds of cheeses among many different beef sticks, spreads and jel- ly's .

Since the beginning of the recent women’s movement, American feminists have been exploring the representation of female sexuality in the arts—in literature, painting, film, and television. As we struggle towards meaningful theory, it is important to note that feminist criticism, as a new way of reading texts, emerged from the daily, ongoing concerns of women re-evaluating the culture in which they had been socialized and educated. In this sense, feminist criticism differs in basic ways from earlier critical movements which evolved out of reaction to dominant theoretical positions (i.e. out of a reaction which took place on an intellectual level). Feminism is unusual in its combination of the theoretical and (loosely speaking) the ideological (Marxist literary theory alone shares a similar dual focus, but from very different premises). The first wave of feminist critics adopted a broadly sociological approach, looking at sex roles women occupied in various imaginative works, from high art to mass entertainment. They assessed roles as “positive” or “negative” according to some externally constructed criteria describing the fully autonomous, independent woman. While this work was important in initiating feminist criticism (Kate Millett’s Sexual Politics was a ground-breaking text), feminist film critics, influenced by developments taking place in film theory at the start of the 1970s, were the first to point out its limitations. First, influenced by semiology, feminist theorists stressed the crucial role played by the artistic form as the medium for expression; second, influenced by psychoanalysis, they argued that Oedipal processes were central to the production of art works.

The professional storyteller’s story carries the celebration of the performance topic, whether it is family, mountain life, identity, folklore, sacred beliefs, community practices, or health. When the topic is spoken to the audience in a festival atmosphere, it becomes a celebratory moment of that cultural experience. Celebration revolved around family, friends, neighbors, and community. Storytellers celebrated their sense of identity and the sense of belonging to a people. Storytellers move everyday kind of life experiences to a level of celebration just by its inclusion in a story during a performance at a festive event.

Bergstrom, Chair This dissertation examines the relationship between the feminist movement and Hollywood during the 1970s, specifically as it impacted the hiring practices and creative output of women directors working in the film industry. Due to the activism of the feminist movement, in particular the feminist reform efforts of the Women’s Committees of Hollywood’s professional guilds—the Directors Guild, the Screen Actors Guild, and the Writers Guild—the number of women directors in 1970s Hollywood began to increase compared to previous decades. From the mid-1930s till the mid-1960s, only two women filmmakers had careers as directors in Hollywood: Dorothy Arzner and Ida Lupino. This research reveals that between 1966 and 1980 there were at least fifteen women making movies in the commercial film industry: Karen Arthur, Anne Bancroft, Joan Darling, Lee Grant, Barbara Loden, Elaine May, Barbara Peeters, Joan Rivers, ii Stephanie Rothman, Beverly Sebastian, Joan Micklin Silver, Joan Tewkesbury, Jane Wagner, Nancy Walker, and Claudia Weill.

Dr. John J. Millar, dean of the college and vice president of academic services, met with division chairpersons last week to propose a new calendar for 1979-80. JJ Two different variations of the;4-3-3 plan were suggested. Both would eliminate Intersession and increase the course load for fall term to four courses. r "It is not in the best interest of the college to move to the semester system right now," Millar said. "There is a lack of clear-cut support for intersession." * i "Intersession may be a high point for some students," he added, "but a bad experience for many and a burden on faculty.'' Both plans of the new calendar would begin with a 13 week fall term lasting until the middle of December. Two terms, each ten weeks in length, would follow after the new year. t The second plan, suggested by Millar, would call for longer classes during the last two terms, allowing the college to finish approximately two weeks earlier than the first. "Four courses could be disasterous for some people," Millar said.
